Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| CANVAS_API_TOKEN | Yes | Canvas personal access token used by the wrapped canvas-lms-mcp server. Can be rotated later via the Render dashboard (Environment → CANVAS_API_TOKEN), after which the old token should be revoked in Canvas. | |
| GITHUB_CLIENT_ID | Yes | Client ID of the GitHub OAuth App used for authentication (e.g. Ov23linmhs7OYZsyGdG1). | |
| ALLOWED_GITHUB_USERS | Yes | Comma-separated allowlist of GitHub usernames permitted to call tools. The server refuses to boot with an empty allowlist. | |
| GITHUB_CLIENT_SECRET | Yes | Client secret of the GitHub OAuth App (GitHub only shows it once). |
