Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| REC_LOG_LEVEL | No | Set the logging level (e.g. DEBUG, INFO, WARNING, CRITICAL). Overrides the default log level for all commands, including the MCP server. | |
| XDG_DATA_HOME | No | Override the base directory for data files (default ~/.local/share). Recordings and the search index are stored under $XDG_DATA_HOME/rec/. | |
| XDG_CONFIG_HOME | No | Override the base directory for configuration files (default ~/.config). The rec config is stored at $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/rec/config.json. |
