```
## API Endpoints Utilized
### Canvas API Endpoints Used:
- `GET /api/v1/courses/:course_id/pages` - List course pages
- `GET /api/v1/courses/:course_id/pages/:url_or_id` - Get specific page
- `GET /api/v1/courses/:course_id/front_page` - Get course front page
- `GET /api/v1/courses/:course_id/pages/:url_or_id/revisions` - Get page revisions
- `GET /api/v1/courses/:course_id/modules/:module_id/items` - Get module items (enhanced)
## Implementation Details
### Code Quality Standards Applied:
- ✅ **Type Hints**: All functions use proper Python type annotations
- ✅ **Parameter Validation**: Uses existing `@validate_params` decorator
- ✅ **Error Handling**: Consistent error handling with informative messages
- ✅ **Async/Await**: Proper async implementation for API calls
- ✅ **Caching**: Utilizes existing course ID/code caching system
- ✅ **Pagination**: Uses existing `fetch_all_paginated_results` function
- ✅ **Date Formatting**: Uses existing `format_date` standardization
- ✅ **Documentation**: Comprehensive docstrings for all functions
### Integration Features:
- **Course Identifier Support**: Works with both course IDs and course codes
- **Consistent Output Formatting**: Matches existing tool output patterns
- **Status Indicators**: Clear visual indicators for page status (published, front page, etc.)
- **Content Preview**: Safe HTML stripping for preview text
- **Cross-Reference Support**: Links between modules and pages
## Usage Examples
### Basic Usage:
```
# List all pages in a course
list_pages("course_code_123")
# Get details of a specific page
get_page_details("course_code_123", "welcome-page")
# Get full content of a page
get_page_content("course_code_123", "syllabus")
# Get course front page
get_front_page("course_code_123")
```
### Advanced Usage:
```
# Search for pages with filtering
list_pages("course_code_123", sort="updated_at", order="desc", published=true)
# Get module items including pages
list_module_items("course_code_123", "module_456")
# Get comprehensive course overview
get_course_content_overview("course_code_123")
# Get revision history
get_page_revisions("course_code_123", "important-page")
```
## Relationship to Canvas Modules
### How Pages Connect to Modules:
- Pages can be added as module items with type "Page"
- The `list_module_items` tool shows pages within module context
- Page URLs are provided for easy reference
- Module organization provides structured course navigation
### Module Item Types Supported:
- **Page** - Course wiki pages (our new focus)
- **Assignment** - Course assignments
- **Discussion** - Discussion topics
- **ExternalUrl** - External links
- **File** - File attachments
- **ExternalTool** - LTI tools
## Testing Recommendations
### Manual Testing:
1. Test with different course identifiers (ID vs code)
2. Test with pages that have special characters in URLs
3. Test with unpublished pages
4. Test with courses that have no pages
5. Test pagination with courses having many pages
### Integration Testing:
1. Verify module items correctly show page references
2. Test course overview with various content configurations
3. Verify resource URIs work correctly
4. Test error handling with invalid page IDs
## Summary
This implementation provides comprehensive Canvas Pages support while maintaining consistency with the existing codebase architecture. It follows all established patterns for parameter validation, error handling, async operations, and output formatting. The addition significantly enhances the Canvas MCP Server's capability to work with course content beyond just assignments and grades.
