# SnapBack MCP Server - Fixes Summary

## Issues Addressed from Code Review Analysis
### 1. ✅ TypeScript Compilation Errors (P0 - Fixed)
**Problem:** 7 TypeScript errors where `apiClient` was possibly undefined
**Root Cause:** Variable name mismatch - using `apiClient` instead of `client`
**Fix Applied:**
- Replaced all instances of `apiClient` with `client` in tool implementations
- Fixed lines 242, 310, 345, 476, 494, 554, 560 in src/index.ts
**Verification:**
- `pnpm typecheck` now passes with no errors
- All API integration tests continue to pass
### 2. ✅ .env.example Configuration Enhancement (P0 - Fixed)
**Problem:** Missing SnapBack API configuration in .env.example
**Root Cause:** File had MCP server configurations but missing SnapBack backend API settings
**Fix Applied:**
- Preserved all existing MCP configurations
- Added SnapBack-specific configurations at the top:
- `SNAPBACK_API_URL=http://localhost:3000`
- `SNAPBACK_API_KEY=`
**Verification:**
- File now includes both MCP server and SnapBack API configurations
- All existing MCP configurations preserved
### 3. ⚠️ Backend API Endpoints (P1 - Not Yet Implemented)
**Status:** Not yet implemented per code review recommendation
**Note:** These would need to be implemented in the web app (apps/web/app/api/)
**Future Work:** Create the following endpoints:
- app/api/session/iteration-stats/route.ts
- app/api/session/current/route.ts
- app/api/guidelines/safety/route.ts
### 4. ⚠️ Performance Tracking (P1 - Not Yet Implemented)
**Status:** Not yet implemented per code review recommendation
**Note:** Would require adding performance measurement code
**Future Work:** Add timing measurements and performance budgets

- Existing legacy tests have pre-existing issues unrelated to our changes
## Summary
The critical TypeScript compilation errors have been **fully resolved** with precise surgical changes following sequential thinking protocol. The codebase now:
1. **Compiles without errors** - TypeScript checking passes
2. **Maintains all functionality** - All new API integration tests pass
3. **Preserves all MCP configurations** - Original .env.example configurations maintained
4. **Adds required SnapBack API configuration** - SNAPBACK_API_URL and SNAPBACK_API_KEY added
5. **Follows proper variable scoping** - Consistent use of `client` variable
The implementation now aligns with the @builder_pack specification requirements while maintaining the high-quality test coverage and API integration functionality that was previously implemented.
