Installation

Prerequisites

  1. Get your SociaVault API key
    Sign up at sociavault.com/signup (free tier available)

  2. Install the package

    npm install -g sociavault-mcp

Claude Desktop Setup

  1. Open your Claude Desktop config:

    • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

    • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

  2. Add the SociaVault MCP server:

  3. Restart Claude Desktop

Troubleshooting

"SOCIAVAULT_API_KEY environment variable is required"

Make sure you've added your API key to the MCP config file. Get your key at sociavault.com/signup

"Authentication error: Invalid API key"

Your API key is invalid or expired. Generate a new one at sociavault.com/dashboard

"Profile not found"

The username doesn't exist or the account is private. Try a different username.

Server not appearing in Claude Desktop

  1. Check the config file syntax is valid JSON

  2. Restart Claude Desktop completely

  3. Check the logs in ~/Library/Logs/Claude/mcp*.log (macOS)
