# Active Context - ClickUp MCP Server
## ⚠️ CRITICAL: COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION FAILURE ⚠️
The MCP Test Client has revealed a COMPLETE ABSENCE of tool and resource descriptions. This is not just a documentation gap - it is a CRITICAL FAILURE that makes the entire MCP server effectively unusable for AI assistants.
### Verified Test Results
MCP Test Client output shows:
- 40+ tools with NO descriptions
- 11 direct resources with NO descriptions
- 15 resource templates with NO descriptions
- Parameter schemas exist but are insufficient without context
### Impact Assessment
This is a BLOCKING ISSUE:
- AI assistants CANNOT understand tool purposes
- Resource relationships are UNCLEAR
- No context for proper tool selection
- No guidance for parameter usage
- Integration impossible without manual intervention
### Scope of Documentation Failure
1. Tools (ALL lack descriptions):
- Workspace/Auth tools (get_workspace_seats, get_workspaces)
- Space tools (get_spaces, get_space)
- Folder tools (create_folder, update_folder, delete_folder)
- List tools (get_lists, create_list, update_list, delete_list)
- Task tools (get_tasks, create_task, update_task)
- Document tools (get_doc_content, search_docs)
- Checklist tools (create_checklist, update_checklist)
- Comment tools (get_task_comments, create_task_comment)
2. Resources (ALL lack context):
- Direct resources (example-task, example-doc, etc.)
- Resource templates (task-details, doc-content, etc.)
- URI patterns (no explanation of parameters or usage)
### Current State
While technically functional, the server is effectively BROKEN:
- ❌ No tool descriptions
- ❌ No resource documentation
- ❌ No usage guidance
- ✓ Core functionality works (but unusable without documentation)
- ✓ Parameter schemas defined (but lack context)
### Required Action
IMMEDIATE documentation required for:
1. Every tool must have:
- Clear purpose description
- Usage context
- Expected outcomes
- Parameter explanations
- Error scenarios
2. Every resource must have:
- Purpose description
- Data structure explanation
- Relationship documentation
- Usage examples
### Verification Process
Use MCP Test Client to verify ALL descriptions:
```powershell
dotnet run --project D:/dev/ai/my-mcp-servers/mcp-test-client/MCPTestClient/src/MCPTestClient.CLI -- list-all --server clickup
```
### Related Files
- src/tools/*.ts (ALL tool files need descriptions)
- src/resources/*.ts (ALL resource files need documentation)

NO OTHER WORK SHOULD PROCEED UNTIL THIS IS FIXED.
