# Sharing Guide
## How to Share This MCP Server
### Option 1: GitHub Repository (Recommended)
**Steps:**
1. **Update package.json** (already done):
- Add your name as author
- Update repository URL with your GitHub username
- Changed license to MIT
2. **Initialize Git** (if not already done):
```bash
cd /Users/nhurwitz/mcp-content-credentials
git init
git add .
git commit -m "Initial commit: MCP Content Credentials Server"
```
3. **Create GitHub Repository**:
- Go to https://github.com/new
- Name it: `mcp-content-credentials`
- Description: "MCP server for reading Content Credentials from images and media files"
- Make it public
- Don't initialize with README (you already have one)
4. **Push to GitHub**:
```bash
git remote add origin https://github.com/yourusername/mcp-content-credentials.git
git branch -M main
git push -u origin main
```
5. **Share the URL**:
- Share: `https://github.com/yourusername/mcp-content-credentials`
- Users can clone and install it
**Installation Instructions for Users:**
```bash
# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/yourusername/mcp-content-credentials.git
cd mcp-content-credentials
# Install dependencies
npm install
# Build
npm run build
# Add to Claude Desktop config
# See README.md for configuration details
```

### Option 2: NPM Package
To publish on npm (makes installation easier):
1. **Create npm account** (if you don't have one):
- Sign up at https://www.npmjs.com/signup
2. **Login to npm**:
```bash
npm login
```
3. **Publish**:
```bash
npm publish
```
4. **Users can install via**:
```bash
npm install -g mcp-content-credentials
```
**Note:** You'll need to choose a unique package name on npm if `mcp-content-credentials` is taken.

### Option 3: Direct File Sharing
For private sharing or small groups:
1. **Build the project**:
```bash
npm run build
```
2. **Create a release archive**:
```bash
# Create a tarball
npm pack
# Or create a zip
tar -czf mcp-content-credentials.tar.gz \
src/ \
build/ \
package.json \
package-lock.json \
tsconfig.json \
eslint.config.mjs \
.prettierrc.json \
README.md \

3. **Share the archive**:
- Send via email, Slack, etc.
- Upload to cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive)
4. **Users install**:
```bash
# Extract
tar -xzf mcp-content-credentials.tar.gz
cd mcp-content-credentials
# Install dependencies
npm install
# Use it
npm start
```

### Option 4: MCP Server Registry
Submit to the official MCP servers list:
1. **Fork the MCP servers repository**:
- https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/servers
2. **Add your server** to the list
3. **Submit a pull request**
This gets your server listed in the official directory!

## What to Update Before Sharing

- Code quality tools (ESLint, Prettier)

- Proper .gitignore

1. **package.json**: Replace "Your Name" with your actual name
2. **package.json**: Replace repository URLs with your actual GitHub username
3. **LICENSE**: Add your name and year

After pushing to GitHub:
1. Go to your repository
2. Click "Releases" ā "Create a new release"
3. Tag: `v1.0.0`
4. Title: "Initial Release"
5. Description:
