# Template System Test Coverage Summary
## Overview
Added comprehensive test coverage for the task template system in the Gorev MCP server.
## Test Files Created/Modified
### 1. `/internal/mcp/handlers_test.go`
Added comprehensive integration tests for template-related MCP handlers:
#### Test Functions Added
- **TestTemplateHandlers** - Main test suite with the following sub-tests:
- `List Templates Empty` - Tests listing templates when database is empty
- `Initialize Default Templates` - Tests initialization of 4 default templates
- `List Templates By Category` - Tests filtering templates by category (Teknik, Özellik, Araştırma)
- `Create Task From Template - Bug Report` - Tests creating a bug report from template with all fields
- `Create Task From Template - Missing Required Fields` - Tests validation of required fields
- `Create Task From Template - Invalid Template ID` - Tests error handling for non-existent templates
- `Create Task From Template - Feature Request` - Tests feature request template with project assignment
- `Create Task From Template - Technical Debt` - Tests technical debt template with all fields
- `Template Field Validation` - Tests that template field information is properly displayed
- `Template Parameters Validation` - Tests MCP parameter validation
- **TestTemplateConcurrency** - Tests concurrent task creation from templates

Created unit tests for template management functions:

- `Template with All Field Types` - Tests all supported field types (text, number, date, select)
- **TestDefaultTemplates**:
- Tests initialization of 4 default templates
- Verifies categories and template names
- Tests duplicate handling
## Coverage Results
### MCP Handlers (`/internal/mcp`)
- Overall coverage: **78.7%** (increased from ~75%)
- Template handlers: **100%** coverage
- `TemplateListele`: 100%
- `TemplatedenGorevOlustur`: 100%
### Gorev Package (`/internal/gorev`)
- Overall coverage: **71.2%**
- Template functions coverage:
- `TemplateOlustur`: 83.3%
- `TemplateListele`: 82.6%
- `TemplateGetir`: 76.9%
- `TemplatedenGorevOlustur`: 91.3%
- `VarsayilanTemplateleriOlustur`: 83.3%
## Test Scenarios Covered
### 1. Template Management
- Creating custom templates with various field types
- Retrieving templates by ID
- Listing all templates
- Filtering templates by category
- Handling non-existent templates
### 2. Task Creation from Templates
- Creating tasks from all 4 default templates
- Field substitution in title and description
- Required field validation
- Default value handling
- Tag creation from template
- Due date assignment
- Project assignment
### 3. Error Handling
- Missing required fields
- Invalid template IDs
- Wrong parameter types
- Database errors
### 4. Concurrency
- Concurrent task creation from same template
- Race condition testing
## Key Findings
1. **Default Value Limitation**: The current implementation doesn't apply default values from template fields automatically. If a field has a default value but isn't provided in the `values` map, the placeholder remains in the template (e.g., `{{tags}}`).
2. **Template Categories**: The system properly supports categorization with 3 default categories:
- Teknik (Bug Report, Technical Debt)
- Özellik (Feature Request)
- Araştırma (Research Task)
3. **Field Types**: All field types are supported:
- text: Simple text input
- select: Dropdown with predefined options
- date: Date picker (YYYY-MM-DD format)
- number: Numeric input

## Future Improvements
1. Implement automatic default value application from template field definitions
2. Add template versioning support
3. Add template import/export functionality
4. Add more field types (e.g., boolean, multi-select)
5. Add template inheritance/composition
