# Oneiric Migration Complete

## Overview
Session Buddy has successfully completed its migration to Oneiric and mcp-common standards. This migration modernizes the project's infrastructure, improves maintainability, and provides better developer experience.
## What Changed
### Phase 1: MCP CLI Factory Adoption ✅
- **Before**: Custom boolean flags (`--start-mcp-server`, `--stop-mcp-server`)
- **After**: Standard CLI commands (`start`, `stop`, `restart`, `status`, `health`)
- **Benefit**: Consistent with mcp-common ecosystem
### Phase 2: Oneiric Runtime Snapshots ✅
- **Added**: `.oneiric_cache/` directory for snapshot storage
- **Feature**: Fast caching of Oneiric resolver results
- **Benefit**: Faster startup times
### Phase 3: Settings Migration ✅
- **Before**: Pydantic BaseSettings with environment variables
- **After**: MCPBaseSettings with YAML configuration support
- **Location**: `~/.claude/settings/session-buddy.yaml`
- **Benefit**: Easier configuration management
### Phase 4: Oneiric DI Conversion ✅
- **Before**: Manual dependency management
- **After**: Oneiric service container with automatic resolution
- **Benefit**: Cleaner code, better testability
### Phase 5: Adapter Conversion ✅
- **Before**: Hybrid ACB + Oneiric implementations
- **After**: Oneiric-only implementations for all adapters
- **Adapters**: Reflection, Knowledge Graph, Storage Registry, Serverless Storage
- **Benefit**: Simplified architecture, fewer dependencies
### Phase 6: Validation + Cutover ✅
- **Fixed**: Query cache race condition during cleanup
- **Tests**: 18/18 passing (100%)
- **Resolution**: Added 100ms delay to allow pending executor operations
- **Benefit**: Reliable cleanup, no resource leaks
### Phase 7: Documentation Updates ✅
- **Added**: Migration guide (this document)
- **Updated**: README.md with Oneiric-specific usage
- **Benefit**: Clear upgrade path for users
## Migration Guide for Users
### Before Migration
If you have an existing Session Buddy installation:
1. **Check current version**:

python -m session_buddy --version
```
2. **Backup your data**:
```bash
cp -r ~/.claude ~/.claude.backup
```
### After Migration
1. **Update configuration** (if using custom settings):
- Old: Environment variables only
- New: `~/.claude/settings/session-buddy.yaml`
- See [CONFIGURATION.md](../user/CONFIGURATION.md) for details
2. **Update CLI commands**:
- Old: `python -m session_buddy --start-mcp-server`
- New: `python -m session_buddy start`
3. **Verify installation**:

- **Snapshot cache**: New `.oneiric_cache/` directory (can be safely deleted)
## Rollback Plan (If Needed)
If you encounter issues:
1. **Restore backup**:

```
2. **Reinstall previous version**:

git checkout <previous-tag>
uv sync
```
3. **Report issues**:
