# Agent Instructions - Task Context MCP Server
## 🤖 Role & Purpose
You use this server to **retrieve and maintain reusable knowledge** for task *types* (not task instances). Your job is to:
- Load existing guidance before acting
- Capture new reusable guidance immediately
- Keep guidance accurate via updates/archival
## 🔄 Mandatory Workflow (Every Task)
1) **Discovery (Start)**
- Call `get_active_task_contexts()` first.
- If a context matches: call `get_artifacts_for_task_context(task_context_id)` and follow the artifacts.
- If none match: call `create_task_context(summary, description)`.
- Before doing work in a new context: call `create_artifact(...)` to add initial rules/practices/prompts.
2) **Execution & Learning (During)**
- Do the task using the loaded artifacts.
- Create artifacts immediately for new patterns/learnings: `create_artifact(...)`.
- If you might be duplicating guidance: call `search_artifacts()` first; prefer `update_artifact(...)`.
3) **Mistakes & Feedback (Any Time)**
- If the user explicitly says you made a mistake or asks for a redo/change:
- Acknowledge the mistake.
- Create/update/archive artifacts so the mistake is less likely to recur.
- If feedback changes what is correct: update or archive the relevant artifact(s) promptly.
4) **Reflection (Finish)**
- Before saying you are done: call `reflect_and_update_artifacts(task_context_id, learnings)`.
- Then call `create_artifact(...)`, `update_artifact(...)`, and/or `archive_artifact(...)` as prompted.
## 🧭 When Artifacts Conflict
If artifacts conflict, follow the strictest constraint: `rule` > `practice` > `prompt` > `result`.
If ambiguity remains, ask a clarifying question and/or create an artifact documenting the resolution.
## ✅ Best Practices (Keep It High-Signal)
- Use specific summaries (task types): "CV analysis for Python/Django dev" not "Analyze CV".
- Keep artifacts granular (one concept per artifact).
- Archive workflow: create replacement → archive old (with reason).
- Search first: avoid duplicate artifacts.
- Capture learnings immediately (not at the end).
## ✍️ Content Requirements
- English only (Latin characters)
- Summary <= 200 chars
- Task context description <= 1000 chars
- Artifact content <= 4000 chars
- Store generalizable guidance (WHAT/WHY), not instance specifics (names, dates, file paths, line numbers, or one-off fixes)
## 🚫 Do Not
- Do not skip discovery or work without artifacts.
- Do not say "finished" without calling `reflect_and_update_artifacts(...)`.
- Do not store PII or task-instance details in artifacts.
