# Phase 1 Complete - BLS MCP Server
## Status: ✅ COMPLETE
All Phase 1 objectives have been successfully achieved!

### 2. Mock Data System ✅
- [x] Designed realistic BLS data schema
- [x] Created JSON fixtures for:
- `cpi_series.json` - 8 CPI series with metadata

- [x] Implemented `MockDataProvider` class with async methods
- [x] Added data validation and error handling
### 3. Core Server Implementation ✅

## MCP Protocol Test
Successfully tested the MCP server with:
- ✅ Server initialization
- ✅ Tool listing
- ✅ List series tool (returned 5 series)
- ✅ Get series info tool (returned metadata for CUUR0000SA0)
- ✅ Get series tool (returned 21 data points for 2023-2024)

## How to Use
### Installation

### 1. get_series
Fetch BLS data series by ID with optional date range filtering.

## What's Next: Phase 2
Phase 2 will add:

All Phase 1 success criteria have been achieved:
- ✅ MCP server runs locally via stdio
- ✅ Mock data system functional
- ✅ Basic tools working (get_series, list_series, get_series_info)
- ✅ Unit tests passing (17/17)
- ✅ Can be tested with MCP protocol client
## Notes
- Server logs to stderr to keep stdout clean for MCP protocol
- All async operations use asyncio
- Data provider is pluggable for future real data integration
- Tool registration is automatic via dictionary
- Environment variables supported via .env file
