# Smart Prompts MCP Server - Implementation Summary
## What We Built
We've created an enhanced MCP server that transforms prompt management from local file storage to a cloud-based, intelligent system powered by GitHub.
## Key Enhancements
### 1. GitHub Integration
- **Module**: `src/github.ts`
- **Purpose**: Fetches prompts directly from GitHub repositories
- **Features**:
- Public and private repo support
- YAML frontmatter parsing
- Automatic synchronization
- No local storage required
### 2. Enhanced Cache System
- **Module**: `src/enhancedCache.ts`
- **Purpose**: Intelligent caching with indexing
- **Features**:
- Category and tag indexing
- Usage statistics tracking
- Automatic refresh from GitHub
- Search optimization
### 3. MCP Resources
- **Module**: `src/resources.ts`
- **Purpose**: Expose prompt data through MCP protocol
- **Resources**:
- `prompts://list` - All prompts
- `prompts://categories` - Categories list
- `prompts://tags` - Tags list
- `prompts://stats` - Usage statistics
- `prompts://recent` - Recent prompts
- `prompts://category/{name}` - By category
- `prompts://search?q={query}` - Search
### 4. MCP Prompts
- **Module**: `src/mcpPrompts.ts`
- **Purpose**: Interactive prompt templates
- **Features**:
- Dynamic argument support
- Handlebars templating
- Built-in prompts (compose, search, suggest)
- Template rendering
### 5. Configuration System
- **Module**: `src/config.ts`
- **Purpose**: Flexible configuration
- **Features**:
- Environment variable support
- Feature flags
- Cache configuration
- GitHub settings
### 6. Enhanced Tools
- **Added to**: `src/index.ts`
- **New Tools**:
- `search_prompts` - Keyword search
- `compose_prompts` - Combine prompts
- `get_prompt_stats` - Usage statistics
