# GitHub Setup Instructions
## 🚀 Push to GitHub
Follow these steps to publish your MCP Aruba Email Server to GitHub:
### 1. Create GitHub Repository
1. Go to [github.com/new](https://github.com/new)
2. Repository name: `mcp-aruba`
3. Description: `MCP server for Aruba email integration - Read and send emails via IMAP/SMTP with AI assistants`
4. Choose **Public** (to share with other Aruba users)
5. **DO NOT** initialize with README, .gitignore, or license (we already have them)
6. Click **Create repository**
### 2. Push to GitHub
After creating the repository, run these commands:
```bash
cd /Users/giacomofiorucci/Sviluppo/mcp_aruba
# Add GitHub remote (replace YOUR_USERNAME with your GitHub username)
git remote add origin https://github.com/YOUR_USERNAME/mcp-aruba.git
# Rename branch to main (modern convention)
git branch -M main
# Push to GitHub
git push -u origin main
```
### 3. Verify Upload
Go to your repository URL:
```
https://github.com/YOUR_USERNAME/mcp-aruba
```
You should see:
- ✅ README.md displayed on homepage
- ✅ All files present
- ✅ LICENSE showing MIT
- ✅ No credentials in .env (only .env.example)
### 4. Add GitHub Topics
On your repository page:
1. Click ⚙️ Settings
2. Under "Topics", add:
- `mcp`
- `mcp-server`
- `aruba`
- `email`
- `imap`
- `smtp`
- `claude`
- `ai`
- `python`
This helps others discover your project!
### 5. Enable GitHub Pages (Optional)
For better documentation visibility:
1. Go to Settings → Pages
2. Source: Deploy from branch `main`
3. Folder: `/docs` or `/ (root)`
4. Save
### 6. Add Repository Description
Click the ⚙️ icon next to "About" and add:
- **Description**: MCP server for Aruba email - IMAP/SMTP integration with AI assistants like Claude
- **Website**: (leave empty or add docs URL)
- **Topics**: (already added in step 4)
## 📢 Share Your Project
After publishing, you can:
1. **Share on Model Context Protocol community**
- Add to [MCP Registry](https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/servers)
- Post in [MCP Discussions](https://github.com/orgs/modelcontextprotocol/discussions)
2. **Share on social media**

3. **Add to your profile README**
Feature it as a pinned repository!
## 🔄 Future Updates
When you make changes:
