# Archived Documentation This folder contains historical documentation from the development process of the devpipe MCP server. ## What's Here These documents were created during debugging and development of workspace context handling and the `DEVPIPE_CWD` environment variable approach. **Key Learning:** The MCP server doesn't need complex workspace context detection or environment variables. Users can simply specify project paths in their natural language prompts, and the AI assistant translates these into the appropriate tool calls with explicit paths. ## Files - **DEVPIPE_CWD.md** - Documentation about the DEVPIPE_CWD environment variable (now optional/deprecated) - **FIX_SUMMARY.md** - Summary of workspace context fixes - **TEST_WHAT_DIRECTORY.md** - Testing documentation for directory detection - **WORKSPACE_CONTEXT_FINDINGS.md** - Findings about workspace context - **DEBUG_WORKSPACE_CONTEXT.md** - Debug notes - **INITIALIZE_LOGGING.md** - Logging initialization notes - **MCP_FIX_COMPLETE.md** - Fix completion summary - **QUICK_FIX_GUIDE.md** - Quick fix guide ## Current Approach The current implementation is much simpler: - No `DEVPIPE_CWD` required - No complex workspace detection - Users specify project paths in natural language prompts - AI assistant handles path resolution See the main README.md for current usage patterns.
