# Week 1 Progress Update **Report Date:** May 11, 2025 **Period Covered:** Initial Project Setup and Core Implementation **Status:** On Track ## Executive Summary The project has progressed significantly, with the completion of the foundation phase and substantial progress on the core implementation phase. We have successfully created a TypeScript-based architecture for v2 and implemented the MCP tools interface with critical initial tools. ## Completed Tasks | Task ID | Description | Completion Date | Verification | |---------|-------------|-----------------|-------------| | F-01 | Create v2 branch | May 11, 2025 | Branch `v2-development` created and confirmed in git | | F-02 | Set up project structure | May 11, 2025 | Directory structure created with v1/ and v2/ directories | | F-03 | Create planning documents | May 11, 2025 | Planning documents created in ai_workspace/ | | F-04 | Update README for Claude focus | May 11, 2025 | README updated with Claude-focused content | | F-05 | Setup TypeScript config | May 11, 2025 | tsconfig.json created with proper TypeScript configuration | | F-06 | Set up linting tools | May 11, 2025 | ESLint config created for TypeScript | | F-07 | Create TypeScript directory structure | May 11, 2025 | Created proper TypeScript directory structure | | F-08 | Set up test infrastructure | May 11, 2025 | Jest testing framework configured for TypeScript | | F-09 | Create technology stack document | May 11, 2025 | Technology stack document created specifying Node.js/TypeScript approach | | F-10 | Verify no Python in v2 | May 11, 2025 | Confirmed no Python files in v2 | | C-01 | Design TypeScript API client | May 11, 2025 | QuickbaseClient implemented in TypeScript | | C-02 | Implement authentication module | May 11, 2025 | Authentication headers added to client | | C-03 | Implement HTTP request handling | May 11, 2025 | HTTP client functionality implemented | | C-04 | Create caching system | May 11, 2025 | CacheService implemented in TypeScript | | C-06 | Create error handling system | May 11, 2025 | Error handling implemented in client | | C-07 | Implement basic MCP tools | May 11, 2025 | MCP tools interface and registry implemented | | C-08 | Create type definitions | May 11, 2025 | TypeScript interfaces defined for API and MCP | ## In-Progress Tasks | Task ID | Description | Status | Blockers | |---------|-------------|--------|----------| | C-05 | Implement retry logic | In Progress | None | | E-01 | Implement app management tools | Pending | None | | E-02 | Implement table operations | Pending | None | ## Metrics - **Tasks Completed:** 17 - **Tasks In Progress:** 1 - **Tasks Pending:** 14 - **Blockers:** 0 - **Risks Identified:** 0 ## Key Achievements 1. **TypeScript Foundation**: Established a solid TypeScript foundation with proper configuration, linting, and testing infrastructure. 2. **Core API Client**: Implemented a robust TypeScript-based Quickbase API client with: - Authentication - Request/response handling - Error management - Type-safe interfaces 3. **MCP Tools Framework**: Created an extensible framework for MCP tools: - Base tool abstract class - Tool registry system - Parameter validation - Consistent error handling 4. **Initial Tools**: Implemented the first critical MCP tools: - `test_connection` for verifying Quickbase connectivity - `configure_cache` for managing caching behavior 5. **Server Integration**: Enhanced the Express server with: - Tool execution routes - Batch operation support - Schema discovery endpoint - Status reporting ## Architecture Implementation The implemented architecture follows our design specifications: ``` ┌─────────────────────────────────────────┐ │ MCP Server (Express.js) │ └────────────────────┬───────────────────┘ │ ┌────────────────────▼───────────────────┐ │ Tool Registry │ │ │ │ ┌─────────────┐ ┌─────────────┐ │ │ │ Base Tool │ │ Tool │ │ │ │ Class │ │ Instances │ │ │ └─────────────┘ └──────┬──────┘ │ └─────────────────────────────┬─┘ │ │ │ ┌─────────────────────────────▼───────────┐ │ QuickBase Client (TypeScript) │ │ │ │ ┌─────────────┐ ┌─────────────┐ │ │ │ Request │ │ Error │ │ │ │ Handling │ │ Handling │ │ │ └─────────────┘ └─────────────┘ │ └─────────────────────────────────────────┘ ``` ## Next Steps 1. Complete retry logic implementation 2. Implement advanced MCP tools: - App management tools - Table operations - Field management - Record operations 3. Write unit tests for implemented components 4. Add more detailed documentation ## Notes & Observations The TypeScript implementation provides excellent type safety and developer experience. The architecture is proving to be clean and extensible, making it easy to add new tools and functionality.
