CURSOR INTEGRATION INSTRUCTIONS ============================== Since Cursor doesn't natively support MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers yet, here are the best ways to use MCP Context Manager with Cursor: OPTION 1: MANUAL CONTEXT SETUP ----------------------------- 1. In your project root, create these files manually: - PROJECT-TEMPLATE.md - CODEBASE-CONTEXT.md 2. Ask Cursor AI to analyze your codebase and fill these templates: "Please analyze this entire codebase and create a comprehensive PROJECT-TEMPLATE.md file. Include all tech stack details, architecture patterns, naming conventions, and development workflows. Then create CODEBASE-CONTEXT.md with our specific coding patterns." 3. Add .cursorrules file (already created) to your project root 4. Cursor will now automatically read these files before generating code OPTION 2: USE THE CLI HELPER --------------------------- 1. In terminal, run: cd /your/project npx /Users/biswa/Desktop/ai-agent-template/ai-agent-template-mcp/packages/mcp-agent init 2. This creates .mcp/INSTRUCTIONS.md with detailed steps 3. Copy the instructions into Cursor and ask it to follow them OPTION 3: CURSOR CUSTOM INSTRUCTIONS ----------------------------------- Add this to Cursor Settings > Custom Instructions: "Before writing any code, always: 1. Check for PROJECT-TEMPLATE.md in the root directory 2. Check for CODEBASE-CONTEXT.md in the root directory 3. Read both files completely 4. Follow all patterns, conventions, and constraints defined there 5. If these files don't exist, offer to create them by analyzing the codebase" QUICK TEST ---------- To test if it's working, ask Cursor: "What are the coding conventions for this project according to CODEBASE-CONTEXT.md?" If Cursor can answer with specific details, it's working! TIPS ---- - Keep context files updated as your project evolves - Review AI-generated context files for accuracy - The .cursorrules file helps Cursor follow your patterns - Remind Cursor to check context files if it forgets
