### Logging Levels
The application now supports different logging verbosity:
```bash
# Silent mode (errors only)
LOG_LEVEL=error
# Normal operation (info + errors) - DEFAULT
LOG_LEVEL=info
# Detailed debugging
LOG_LEVEL=debug
```
## How to Monitor Logs
### Real-time Monitoring
```bash
# Watch all logs
pm2 logs mcp-memory-web
# Watch last 100 lines
pm2 logs mcp-memory-web --lines 100
# Filter for Google sync only
pm2 logs mcp-memory-web | grep GoogleContactsSync
# Filter by request ID
pm2 logs mcp-memory-web | grep "req-abc12345"
```
### Log Files Location
```bash
# Output logs
/Users/masa/Projects/mcp-memory-ts/web/logs/pm2-out-16.log
# Error logs
/Users/masa/Projects/mcp-memory-ts/web/logs/pm2-error-16.log
```
### Example Log Output (What to Expect)

## Testing Instructions
### 1. Access Production App
```bash
# Open in browser
open http://localhost:3001
# Or check status
curl http://localhost:3001/api/health
```
### 2. Authenticate
1. Sign in with Clerk
2. Go to Settings
3. Connect Google account (if not already connected)
### 3. Trigger Sync
1. Navigate to Sync page
2. Select "Google Contacts" tab
3. Choose sync direction (Import/Export/Both)
4. Enable "Auto-merge duplicates"
5. Click "Start Sync"
### 4. Monitor Logs in Real-time
```bash
# In a separate terminal
pm2 logs mcp-memory-web --lines 100
```
### 5. Watch for Log Output
You should see:
- Request ID assignment
- User authentication
- Sync parameters
- Progress updates
- Completion summary
- Any errors with full context
## Verification Checklist
- ✅ Build completed successfully
- ✅ PM2 restart successful
- ✅ Server status: ONLINE
- ✅ Health endpoint responding
- ✅ Database connection verified
- ✅ Main application accessible
- ✅ Logging improvements deployed
- ⏳ User testing required (awaiting first sync operation)
## Next Steps
### For User Testing
1. Sign in to production app at http://localhost:3001
2. Connect Google account if needed
3. Run a test sync operation
4. Monitor logs in real-time
5. Verify logging format and detail level
6. Report any issues or missing information
### Expected Outcomes
- Request IDs should be visible in all sync-related logs
- Component prefixes `[GoogleContactsSync]` should tag all operations
- Progress should be trackable from start to finish
- Errors should include full context and recovery suggestions
- Performance metrics should be logged (duration, counts, etc.)
### If Issues Occur
1. Check PM2 logs for error details
2. Verify LOG_LEVEL setting (default is 'info')
3. Ensure Google OAuth tokens are valid
4. Check database connectivity
5. Review Clerk authentication status
## Performance Notes
- **Memory**: 71.5 MB (healthy, within normal range)
- **CPU**: 0% idle (ready for requests)
- **Build**: Fast compilation (~5 seconds)
- **Startup**: Quick restart (~3 seconds)
## Configuration
### Current Environment
```bash
PORT=3001
NODE_ENV=production
LOG_LEVEL=info # Can be adjusted to 'error' or 'debug'
```
### PM2 Configuration
```javascript
{
name: 'mcp-memory-web',
script: 'npm',
args: 'start',
cwd: '/Users/masa/Projects/mcp-memory-ts/web',
env: {
PORT: 3001,
NODE_ENV: 'production'
}
}
```
## Troubleshooting
### If Logs Don't Appear
1. Verify LOG_LEVEL is not set to 'error' only
2. Check that sync operation actually started
3. Ensure user is authenticated
4. Verify Google OAuth connection is active
### If Server Not Responding
```bash
# Check PM2 status
pm2 list
# Restart if needed
pm2 restart mcp-memory-web
# Check logs for errors
pm2 logs mcp-memory-web --err --lines 50
```
### If Authentication Issues
1. Check Clerk configuration
2. Verify publishable key is set
3. Clear browser cache/cookies
4. Check middleware.ts is active
## Support
### Log Analysis
If you need help analyzing logs:
1. Filter by request ID to trace specific operations
2. Search for ERROR to find issues
3. Look for duration metrics to identify performance problems
4. Check summary lines for operation outcomes
### Debugging Commands
```bash
# Check server status
pm2 status mcp-memory-web
# View recent errors only
pm2 logs mcp-memory-web --err --lines 50
# Search for specific request
pm2 logs mcp-memory-web --nostream | grep "req-abc12345"
# Monitor in real-time with filtering
pm2 logs mcp-memory-web | grep -E "GoogleContactsSync|ERROR"
```
