# MCP Tools Exposure Status
## Current Status: ✅ CONFIGURED
The Jakarta Migration MCP tools are **fully configured** and exposed via Spring AI MCP Server.
## Configuration Status
### 1. ✅ Spring AI MCP Server Dependency
**Location**: `build.gradle.kts` line 61
**Current State**:
```kotlin
implementation("org.springframework.ai:spring-ai-starter-mcp-server:${property("springAiVersion")}")
```
**Status**: ✅ Dependency is enabled and configured
**Spring AI Version**: 1.1.2 (upgraded to enable @McpTool annotations)
### 2. ✅ @McpTool Annotations
**Location**: `src/main/java/adrianmikula/jakartamigration/mcp/JakartaMigrationTools.java`
**Current State**: All methods are annotated with `@McpTool`
**Tools Exposed**:
- ✅ `analyzeJakartaReadiness(String projectPath)`
- ✅ `detectBlockers(String projectPath)`
- ✅ `recommendVersions(String projectPath)`
- ✅ `createMigrationPlan(String projectPath)`
- ✅ `verifyRuntime(String jarPath, Integer timeoutSeconds)`
**Status**: ✅ All 5 tools are properly annotated
### 3. ✅ MCP Server Configuration
**Location**: `src/main/resources/application.yml`
**Current State**: MCP server configuration is present:
```yaml
spring:
ai:
mcp:
server:
name: jakarta-migration-mcp
version: 1.0.0-SNAPSHOT
transport: ${MCP_TRANSPORT:stdio}
annotation-scanner:
enabled: true
sse:
port: ${MCP_SSE_PORT:8080}
path: ${MCP_SSE_PATH:/mcp/sse}
```
**Status**: ✅ Fully configured with support for both stdio and SSE transports
## Additional Configuration
### Manual Tool Registration (Workaround)
**Location**: `src/main/java/adrianmikula/jakartamigration/mcp/McpToolsConfiguration.java`
**Status**: ✅ Configured as workaround for annotation scanner
A manual configuration class exists to ensure tools are registered even if the annotation scanner has issues. This provides redundancy and ensures tools are always available.
## Verification Steps
To verify MCP tools are exposed:
1. **Build the project**: `./gradlew bootJar`
2. **Run the JAR**: `java -jar build/libs/jakarta-migration-mcp-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.jar --spring.main.web-application-type=none`
3. **Check logs** for MCP server startup messages and tool registration
4. **Test with MCP client** (Cursor, Claude Desktop) to see if tools are available
## Testing
For detailed testing instructions, see:
- [MCP_TESTING_GUIDE.md](MCP_TESTING_GUIDE.md) - Complete testing guide
- [CURSOR_MCP_SETUP.md](CURSOR_MCP_SETUP.md) - Cursor configuration guide
## Summary
✅ **Dependency**: Spring AI MCP Server 1.1.2 enabled
✅ **Annotations**: All 5 tools annotated with @McpTool
✅ **Configuration**: MCP server fully configured in application.yml
✅ **Transport**: Both stdio and SSE transports supported
✅ **Registration**: Manual configuration class ensures tool registration
The MCP server is ready for use with Cursor, Claude Desktop, and other MCP clients.
