# Using DeepSeek with MCP Mac Apps Server There are several ways to use DeepSeek with your MCP server for managing Mac applications: ## Method 1: DeepSeek Desktop App (Recommended) If DeepSeek has an official desktop application with MCP support: 1. **Install DeepSeek Desktop App** from App Store or official website 2. **Find MCP Configuration File**. Usually located at: - `~/Library/Application Support/DeepSeek/mcp.json` or - `~/.deepseek/mcp.json` or - In DeepSeek application settings 3. **Add MCP Server Configuration**: ```json { "mcpServers": { "mac-apps": { "command": "node", "args": ["/Users/olegzaichkin/Documents/MCP/dist/index.js"] } } } ``` 4. **Restart DeepSeek** to apply changes ## Method 2: Via Claude Desktop with DeepSeek API If DeepSeek supports API compatible with OpenAI, you can use Claude Desktop: 1. **Install Claude Desktop** (if not already installed) 2. **Find Claude Desktop Configuration File**: - macOS: `~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json` 3. **Add Configuration**: ```json { "mcpServers": { "mac-apps": { "command": "node", "args": ["/Users/olegzaichkin/Documents/MCP/dist/index.js"] } } } ``` 4. **Configure DeepSeek API Usage** in Claude Desktop (if supported) ## Method 3: Using Universal MCP Client You can use any MCP-compatible client with DeepSeek: ### Option 3.1: MCP Inspector / Playground If there are tools for testing MCP servers, you can use them to verify server operation. ### Option 3.2: Creating Your Own Client You can create a simple client in Node.js/TypeScript that will use DeepSeek API and our MCP server. ## Server Verification Before connecting to DeepSeek, make sure the server is running: ```bash cd /Users/olegzaichkin/Documents/MCP npm run build node dist/index.js ``` Server should start and output "MCP Mac Apps Server started" to stderr. ## Command Line Testing You can test the MCP server directly by sending JSON-RPC messages: ```bash # Test tool list echo '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list"}' | node dist/index.js # Test tool call echo '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":2,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"get_running_applications","arguments":{}}}' | node dist/index.js ``` ## Common Issues and Solutions ### Issue: Server Won't Start **Solution**: Make sure that: - Node.js version 18+ is installed - All dependencies are installed (`npm install`) - Project is built (`npm run build`) ### Issue: DeepSeek Doesn't See Tools **Solution**: - Check that server path in configuration is correct - Make sure DeepSeek is restarted after configuration change - Check DeepSeek logs for errors ### Issue: Application Access Errors **Solution**: - macOS may require permissions in "System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation" - Allow access for Terminal/Node.js ## Alternative: API Integration If DeepSeek has a REST API, you can create a simple HTTP wrapper for the MCP server, but this requires additional development. ## Where to Find Current Information - Official DeepSeek documentation - [MCP Specification](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/) - Documentation for your MCP client --- **Note**: Configuration structure may differ depending on DeepSeek version and client type. Refer to official DeepSeek documentation for current information.
