## Objectives
- Remove all legacy/deprecated code since there is no prior release
- Simplify database schema to single version (no migrations needed)
- Remove backward compatibility code paths
- Clean up unused imports and dead code
- Ensure codebase is lean for initial v2.0 release
## Context
Since Obsidian Palace MCP has not had a public release, there is no need to maintain backward compatibility. Code was added during development to support both old and new patterns, but this complexity is unnecessary for a fresh release.

## Notes & Decisions
### Why Remove Migrations?
Migrations are useful for released software where users have existing databases. Since v2.0 is the first release:
1. No one has an existing Palace database to migrate
2. Adding migration complexity before release is premature
3. Future releases can add migrations if schema changes
4. Simpler code is easier to maintain
### Why Remove PALACE_VAULT_PATH?
The single-vault legacy mode was kept for "backward compatibility" but:
1. No one is using it yet
2. Multi-vault config is more flexible
3. Single vault works fine with multi-vault config (just configure one vault)
4. Removes confusing dual-configuration paths
### Configuration After Cleanup
Users must configure vaults via one of:
1. `~/.config/palace/config.yaml` (recommended)
2. `PALACE_VAULTS` environment variable (quick setup)
3. `PALACE_CONFIG_PATH` pointing to custom config location
Single vault example:

This is cleaner than having two different configuration methods.
