# Pagination Fix for Analytics Functions
## Issue
The analytics functions (`get_ticket_stats`, `get_agent_workload`, `get_team_comparison`, `search_tickets_all`) were not properly paginating through all results. They relied solely on the `Link` header's "next" field, which the Freshservice API doesn't always provide consistently.
**Symptoms:**
- Functions would only return the first page (30 results)
- Stats and metrics were incomplete/inaccurate
- Large datasets were truncated without warning
## Root Cause
The original pagination logic was:
```python
# Check for next page
link_header = response.headers.get("Link", "")
pagination_info = parse_link_header(link_header)
if not pagination_info.get("next"):
break
page = pagination_info["next"]
```
**Problem:** This only continues pagination if the Link header explicitly contains a "next" field. If the API doesn't include this header (which can happen), pagination stops prematurely.
## Solution
Updated pagination logic now uses a dual approach:
```python
# If no tickets returned, we're done
if not tickets:
break
all_tickets.extend(tickets)
# Check if we got a full page (30 results = more pages likely exist)
# Also check Link header for explicit next page
link_header = response.headers.get("Link", "")
pagination_info = parse_link_header(link_header)
# Continue if: (1) we got a full page OR (2) Link header says there's a next page
if len(tickets) < 30 and not pagination_info.get("next"):
break
page += 1
```
**How it works:**
1. **First check**: If API returns 0 tickets, stop immediately (end of results)
2. **Add tickets**: Extend the collection with current page results
3. **Dual pagination check**:
- If we got fewer than 30 tickets AND no Link header "next" → stop (last page)
- Otherwise → increment page and continue
4. **Page increment**: Use simple `page += 1` instead of relying on Link header value
## Affected Functions
All 4 analytics functions were updated with the new pagination logic:
### 1. `search_tickets_all()`
**Lines:** ~3471-3511
**Additional logic:** Also checks `max_results` limit
### 2. `get_ticket_stats()`
**Lines:** ~3610-3636
### 3. `get_agent_workload()`
**Lines:** ~3808-3834
### 4. `get_team_comparison()`
**Lines:** ~4012-4038
## Testing
To verify the fix works correctly:
```python
# Test with a query that returns > 30 results
result = await get_ticket_stats(
created_after="2024-01-01"
)
print(f"Total tickets: {result['stats']['total_tickets']}")
# Should now return ALL tickets, not just first 30
```
## Edge Cases Handled
✅ **Empty results** - Breaks immediately if 0 tickets returned
✅ **Exactly 30 results** - Continues to check next page
✅ **< 30 results** - Stops (last page reached)
✅ **Missing Link header** - Uses ticket count as fallback
✅ **Inconsistent API behavior** - Handles both Link header and count-based pagination
## Performance Impact
**Minimal** - Functions will now make the correct number of API calls:
- Before: 1 call (only first page)
- After: N calls where N = total_tickets / 30 (rounded up)
For a dataset with 150 tickets:
- Before: 1 call, 30 tickets returned (80% data loss)
- After: 5 calls, 150 tickets returned (100% accurate)
## Verification Checklist
✅ `search_tickets_all` - Fixed (lines 3471-3511)
✅ `get_ticket_stats` - Fixed (lines 3610-3636)
✅ `get_agent_workload` - Fixed (lines 3808-3834)
