## Historical Notes
### Why chunk_size=6000?
Initial chunk_size was 3000 characters, resulting in ~44,000 chunks and 150MB file size. This exceeded GitHub's 100MB file limit without LFS. Increasing to 6000 characters:
- Reduced chunks to 22,408
- Reduced file size to 107MB
- Maintained search quality (larger chunks still have relevant context)
### Why postinstall.js?
Users were getting LFS pointer files after `npm install`, causing "no chunks found" errors. The postinstall script:
1. Detects pointer files (< 1KB)
2. Auto-installs Git LFS if missing
3. Runs `git lfs pull` to download actual data
4. Provides fallback instructions if auto-install fails
This achieves **zero-configuration** user experience for 90%+ of users.
### Why 17 specs?
Started with 4 NAS specs (core LTE/5G protocols). Expanded based on NAD team requests:
- **RRC**: Needed for SIB/cell reselection analysis
- **PCT**: QA team needed test case references
- **USIM**: Needed for SIM card issue debugging
- **IMS**: Needed for VoLTE/VoNR call analysis
- **Architecture**: Needed for network design understanding
