# Contributing to Enhanced iTerm MCP Server
Thank you for your interest in contributing to Enhanced iTerm MCP Server! This document provides guidelines for contributing to this project.
## ๐ Getting Started
### Prerequisites
- Node.js 18+
- Python 3.8+
- macOS (required for iTerm2)
- iTerm2 with Python API enabled
### Setup Development Environment
1. **Fork and Clone**

```
2. **Install Dependencies**
```bash
npm install
./setup-python-api.sh
```
3. **Build and Test**
```bash
npm run build
npm test
```

### Making Changes
1. **Create Feature Branch**
```bash
git checkout -b feature/your-feature-name
```
2. **Make Your Changes**
- Edit TypeScript files in `src/`
- Update documentation if needed
- Add tests for new features
3. **Test Your Changes**
```bash
npm run build

4. **Commit Changes**

### Commit Message Format
Follow conventional commits:
- `feat:` new features
