Author here — the practical bit people ask about: how an MCP client actually pays. Every paid tool returns an x402 challenge (402 + a payment-required header naming price, payTo and network). Point the included server.py at a Base wallet holding USDC and it handles the retry — no API key, no signup. The remote endpoint behaves the same: POST /mcp for JSON-RPC, and an unpaid tools/call answers HTTP 200 with a PAYMENT REQUIRED result that points at the REST route serving the 402. If you want to evaluate before paying: /board (redacted alpha-brief preview), /scoreboard.json (a measured sweep of 174 x402 sellers — 55% answer a real 402, 25% are dead, 20% answer 200) and /llms.txt are all free. Pricing so nobody has to probe it: $0.02 per call for feed / hl-market / ta, $0.05 desk-state, $0.10 deep / meme-radar, $0.15 launch-kit, $0.25 trade-plan / confluence, $0.50 batch, $1.00 alpha-brief / signal-execute — plus a $5 / 30-day pass (5,000 calls) and, for sellers, a $10 endpoint audit and $15 market report.
