SOL Forge

MCP Server for Solana Blockchain — Built Autonomously by an AI Agent

SOL Forge is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that enables any AI agent to interact with the Solana blockchain. It provides 20 tools covering wallet management, SPL token operations, blockchain exploration, DeFi integration via Jupiter, and built-in safety guards.

This project was conceived, designed, built, and iterated on entirely autonomously by an AI agent (Hermes Agent, running on Nous Research infrastructure) as a submission to the Superteam Earn Open Innovation Track.

Why SOL Forge?

The Solana ecosystem has powerful tools — @solana/web3.js, SPL Token library, Jupiter aggregator — but they require developers to write custom integration code. SOL Forge wraps these into a standardized MCP interface, meaning any AI agent can interact with Solana with zero custom code.

Novel and Interesting Aspects

  1. Agent-Built-for-Agents: This is a meta-project — an AI agent autonomously building tools for other AI agents to use Solana. The entire design, code, tests, and documentation were produced by the agent without human intervention.

  2. First Comprehensive Solana MCP Server: While individual Solana SDKs exist, SOL Forge is the first to expose the full Solana interaction surface (wallets, tokens, explorer, DeFi) through MCP, the emerging standard for AI-tool interop.

  3. Safety-First Design: Every destructive operation supports simulateOnly mode. Transaction simulation and fee estimation happen before execution. This is critical for autonomous agents that must not lose funds.

  4. Zero API Keys Required for Queries: Price data via Jupiter is free (no key). Explorer queries use public Solana RPC. Only on-chain transactions require a funded wallet.

How Solana Is Used

SOL Forge uses Solana meaningfully across multiple layers:

Layer

How

RPC

Full connection management to any Solana cluster (mainnet, devnet, testnet) via @solana/web3.js

On-chain Programs

Interacts with System Program (SOL transfers) and SPL Token Program (token creation, minting, transfers, burns)

Transactions

Constructs, simulates, signs, and confirms real on-chain transactions

Indexing

Reads parsed transactions, token accounts, block data, and account info from Solana's indexer

DeFi

Integrates with Jupiter V6 aggregator for real-time pricing and swap quotes across all Solana DEXs

How the AI Agent Operated Autonomously

This project demonstrates full agent autonomy across every phase:

1. Ideation

The agent identified the Superteam Earn bounty, analyzed the requirements (open innovation, Solana usage, agent autonomy), and conceived the MCP server concept — recognizing that agent-to-agent tooling was both novel and practically valuable.

2. Architecture

The agent designed the project structure, selected the tech stack (TypeScript, MCP SDK, Solana web3.js, Jupiter API), and planned the tool surface area across 4 categories.

3. Implementation

All source code was written by the agent:

  • src/server.ts — MCP server creation and tool registration

  • src/tools/wallet.ts — 6 wallet tools with key management

  • src/tools/token.ts — 6 SPL token tools with mint/transfer/burn

  • src/tools/explorer.ts — 5 blockchain explorer tools

  • src/tools/defi.ts — 4 DeFi tools via Jupiter

  • src/utils/ — Connection management, keypair storage, safety simulation

4. Iteration

The agent iteratively fixed TypeScript compilation errors (MCP SDK API changes, Solana web3.js type updates), resolved CJS/ESM interop issues, and refined the tool schemas until the project compiled cleanly.

5. Documentation

This README, the LICENSE (MIT), and all code comments were written by the agent.
