Recent Funding Rounds Feed MCP Server
An MCP server for the Mamba Labs Recent Funding Rounds Feed actor on Apify. Give it a filing window and filters such as state, industry, and minimum size. Each run reads SEC Form D notices from SEC EDGAR and returns one row per new private funding round.
What's Inside
Related MCP server: mcp-sec-form-d
What it does
The actor reads the Form D notices US companies file with the SEC within 15 days of a private funding round, keeps the ones in your window that match your filters, and returns one flat row per round: company, amount sold and offered, what was sold (equity, debt, a SAFE), investor count, industry group, executives and directors with roles, address and phone from the filing, the SEC links, and the company domain when the company's own homepage proves it. Funds, SPVs, and real estate projects are dropped by default. When nothing matches, one free row says why.
All of the work runs on Apify. This package is a thin client that starts the actor run, waits for it, and hands back the dataset rows.
Quick start
You need Node.js 18 or newer and an Apify account with an API token.
Add this to your Claude Desktop config (claude_desktop_config.json), Cursor, or any MCP client:
{
"mcpServers": {
"mamba-recent-funding-rounds-feed": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@mambalabsdev/mcp-recent-funding-rounds-feed"
],
"env": {
"APIFY_TOKEN": "your-apify-token"
}
}
}
}Restart the client. The find_recent_funding_rounds tool appears.
Prerequisites
Node.js 18 or newer.
An Apify API token from console.apify.com/account/integrations, set as
APIFY_TOKEN. The server lists its tool without a token; a call needs one.
Example prompts
"Which tech and biotech companies filed a Form D for a round over 1 million USD this week?"
"List companies in New York and Massachusetts that raised money in the last 30 days, with their domains."
"Find newly funded AI startups from SEC filings this week and give me their executives."
Tool
find_recent_funding_rounds. One tool. Example arguments:
{
"filed_within_days": "7",
"industry_groups": [
"Other Technology"
],
"min_amount_usd": "500000"
}Inputs
Every buyer facing input of the actor, unchanged. Omitted inputs take the actor's own defaults. Numbers and booleans are sent as strings.
Input | Type | Description |

| string | Round rows per run, newest filing first, up to 2000. Each round row is billed. Default 100. |
| string | Skip rounds an earlier run with the same state_key returned. Default false. |
| string | Names the seen list for only_new. |
| string | Optional. The run stops before any row that would take its charges over this amount. |
Pricing
Pay per event on Apify, billed to your Apify account. Prices in USD.
Event | Free plan | Bronze | Silver | Gold |
| $0.01 | $0.0095 | $0.009 | $0.0085 |
| $0.0015 | $0.0015 | $0.0015 | $0.0015 |
The no results row, a refused input row, and rounds skipped by only_new are free. With include_press set to true, the actor starts one run of the Mamba Labs News and Media Mention Monitor on your account, which bills its own article events.
Your keys
None beyond your Apify token. SEC EDGAR is free and needs no key. Mamba Labs pays the platform and proxy costs of the run.

1 toolfind_recent_funding_roundsFind recent funding roundsARead-only
Find US companies that just raised private funding, from SEC Form D notices read directly from SEC EDGAR. Filter by filing window (filed_within_days, or date_from and date_to), states, Form D industry_groups, name_keywords, and min_amount_usd. Funds, SPVs, and real estate projects are dropped by default. Returns one row per round: company_name, company_domain with domain_confidence (kept only when the company's own homepage names it), filing_date, first_sale_date, amount_sold_usd, amount_offered_usd, security_types (equity, debt, SAFE), investor_count, industry_group, entity_type, year_of_incorporation, street, city, state, zip_code, issuer_phone, related_persons (executives and directors with roles), cik, accession, and filing_url. A Form D names no round label and no investors; round_label and press_url come only from a matching headline with include_press. When nothing matches, one free no_results row says why; bad input returns one free input_invalid row. A run that does not succeed is returned as an error with its run ID. Read-only; requires an APIFY_TOKEN; Apify charges per round row returned plus a run start.

TDQS
Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?
Goes well beyond the readOnly/openWorld annotations: requires an APIFY_TOKEN, bills per round row plus a run start, notes include_press bills separate article events, and specifies that no_results and input_invalid rows are free while failed runs return an error with a run ID. It also discloses a data limitation — Form D names no round label or investors — which prevents misreading the output.
Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.
Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?
Purpose and source are front-loaded in the first sentence, followed by filters, then return shape, then billing/error semantics — a sensible order. The long comma-separated list of returned fields is dense but defensible given there is no output schema, though it pushes the description toward the verbose end.
Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.
Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?
With 16 optional parameters, no output schema, and no siblings, the description covers the missing pieces an agent needs: the full return row shape, the special no_results/input_invalid/error behaviors, auth requirements, and the cost model. Nothing material for correct invocation is left out.
Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.
Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?
Schema coverage is already 100%, so the baseline is 3; the description earns above that by tying parameters to behavior, e.g. that round_label and press_url appear only when include_press is set and that SPV/fund and real-estate exclusions are on by default. Most of the enumerated return fields duplicate the schema's parameter docs rather than adding new parameter meaning.
Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.
Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?
Opens with a specific verb and resource — 'Find US companies that just raised private funding' — and names the data source (SEC Form D notices from EDGAR). It also states scope decisions the agent would otherwise have to infer, such as funds/SPVs/real estate being dropped by default and that round_label/press_url exist only with include_press.
Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.
Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?
Explains filter dimensions and their defaults (filed_within_days vs date_from/date_to, min_amount_usd, include_press cost caveat), which tells an agent how to steer the query. It does not state explicit when-not-to-use conditions or tradeoffs between filter modes beyond the schema's own notes, so it falls short of a 5.
Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.

Scored across 1 tool
Only one tool is exposed, so there is no risk of selecting the wrong tool. Its purpose is clearly limited to finding recent SEC Form D funding rounds with explicit filters and outputs.
The single tool uses a clear snake_case verb_noun-style name, find_recent_funding_rounds, matching its action and resource. With only one tool, there are no competing conventions to create inconsistency.
A single tool is plausible for a narrowly scoped funding-rounds feed, and this tool is feature-rich rather than trivial. However, one tool is thin for the surface and leaves no separate operations for retrieval by filing ID, pagination, or metadata.
The tool covers filtering, output fields, error/no-result handling, and read-only feed access for the stated domain. Minor gaps remain around direct lookup by cik/accession or explicit pagination behavior, but core use cases are covered.
