Connect in 30 seconds

Every client connects to the same hosted endpoint. OAuth is the recommended path: no API key to copy, store or rotate.

Claude (web, Desktop, mobile)

1. Open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector.

2. Paste https://api.prowlo.com/mcp and click Add.

3. Click Connect and sign in to Prowlo.

On Claude's Free plan you can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an org Owner adds it. If that blocks you, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code connect per user over the same endpoint.

Claude Code

Then run /mcp inside Claude Code, pick prowlo and choose Authenticate. Add -s user to the first command to make Prowlo available in every project.

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or Settings → MCP → Add new server). Cursor opens a browser window to sign in.

Windsurf and Cline

Windsurf (~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json) signs in with OAuth when there is no headers block:

Cline (cline_mcp_settings.json) and other clients that need a key: create an API key in your Prowlo settings and send it as a header. Cline needs "type": "streamableHttp"; without it, Cline falls back to the legacy SSE transport.

Any other client (stdio bridge)

For clients that only speak stdio, bridge to the hosted server with mcp-remote (Node.js 18+). It runs a small local shim; the server is still the hosted one.

Tools

Prowlo exposes 43 tools. Read tools never change anything. Write tools change only your own Prowlo setup (Watchers, Alerts, Trends, tags, profile), never anything on Reddit or X. Every tool carries MCP readOnlyHint / destructiveHint annotations, so clients can ask before running a write.

Your own indexed posts, collected by your Watchers. Free, rate-limited only.

Each Watcher follows one source. When your agent creates a Watcher, it sets the platform to one of:

New posts are collected on an hourly schedule and become searchable by meaning. Keyword Monitors search all of Reddit once a day.

Limits & pricing

Free 14-day trial, no card to start. Then $19/month (or $190/year).

The plan includes:

• 25 Watchers, each checked hourly

• 20 Keyword Monitors across all of Reddit (3 during the trial)

• 200 live reads per day (50/day during the trial)

• 10 Alerts + Trends and 3 webhook destinations

• MCP, REST and webhooks

What counts against a limit:

• Live reads (social_* tools) use 1 credit each, against a daily cap.

• Record comment threads (get_record_comments) have their own daily cap.

• Your records, the catalog and research reports are not metered, only rate-limited.

Privacy & security

• Read-only. Prowlo never posts, comments or votes on any platform.

• No platform credentials. You never hand over a Reddit or X login or API key.

• OAuth sign-in. Your client signs in to your Prowlo account through a browser. The API key is only a fallback for clients that need one.

• Revocable. Disconnect in your client, or revoke under Settings → Connected Apps in your Prowlo account (admins).

• Scoped to your account. Your Watchers, records, Alerts and tags belong to your organization.

Responsible use. Don't use Prowlo to build profiles of individuals or track specific people.
