ShareSeer MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides access to ShareSeer's comprehensive SEC filings, insider transactions, and financial data through Claude and other MCP-compatible AI assistants.

🚀 Quick Start

Claude (web, desktop, or mobile)

No API key needed — you sign in with your ShareSeer account.

1. Go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.

2. Enter the server URL https://shareseer.com/mcp and click Continue.

3. Claude detects Sign in now — leave it selected and click Add.

4. Click Connect and approve the request.

Claude receives a token scoped to your account that refreshes on its own. You can disconnect at any time without affecting your API key.

If you don't have a ShareSeer account yet, sign up free at shareseer.com/signup — you'll be prompted to sign in during step 4.

Claude Code and other MCP clients

Clients that prefer a static credential can pass your API key as a header instead. Get the key from your profile page (it starts with sk-shareseer-).

The server accepts authorization, x-api-key, api-key, and x-auth-token, so whichever header name your client offers will work. An Authorization value must include the Bearer prefix; x-api-key takes the bare key.

🌐 REST API

A REST API is available at https://shareseer.com/api/v1 for programmatic access. Authenticate with X-API-Key: YOUR_KEY, Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY, or ?api_key=YOUR_KEY.

Rate limit headers (X-RateLimit-Limit-Hourly, X-RateLimit-Remaining-Hourly, etc.) are returned on every request. The /api/v1/usage endpoint returns a JSON breakdown without consuming a request.

🐛 Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Claude doesn't show ShareSeer tools:

• Make sure you completed the Connect step — adding the connector alone doesn't sign you in

• Restart Claude after adding the connector

• Check that your ShareSeer account is active

Using a header instead of signing in, and calls fail:

• If you used authorization, the value must start with Bearer (including the space); x-api-key takes the bare key

• Verify your API key is correct and active on your profile page

"Rate limit exceeded" error:

• Check your current subscription tier limits

• Wait for the rate limit window to reset

• Consider upgrading to Premium for higher limits

• Spread out your queries over time

"Invalid API key" error:

• Verify your API key starts with sk-shareseer-

• Check that your ShareSeer account is active

• Get a fresh API key from your profile page
