MCP Database Agent

Overview

A tool-using agent lab built around MCP-style database tools. GET /tools lists three read-only tools, explain, sample_rows and list_indexes, and POST /call runs one of them. Calls that would apply changes or delete data are refused. A /v1 ops API adds workspaces, tenant isolation, job approval and audit records.

• Scope: Local laptop proof with read-only tools; it calls no hosted model and applies no production changes.

Local setup and verification

From the repository root (the commands follow the checked-in manifests):

python3 -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate
python -m pip install -r requirements.txt
python -m pytest -q

To serve the FastAPI application locally, install the server separately if it is not already available:

python -m pip install uvicorn
PYTHONPATH=src python -m uvicorn mcpdb.main:app --reload
