# Salesloft MCP Demo - Execution Plan
## Instructions for All Agents
- **Context**: Always read files in `docs/` before starting any task, especially `docs/prd.md` and `docs/mcp_spec.md`
- **Completion**: Mark tasks with `[x]` when complete

- **Sample Data**: The `transcripts/` folder already contains 40+ interview transcripts - use these as sample data

## Phase 1: Project Setup
### Task 1.1: Initialize Python Project with uv
- [x] **Objective**: Set up the Python project structure using uv package manager

- Create `pyproject.toml` with project metadata and dependencies

- **Completion Summary**: Created pyproject.toml with mcp 1.25.0 and python-frontmatter 1.1.0. Installed 32 packages via uv sync.
### Task 1.2: Create Project Directory Structure
- [x] **Objective**: Set up the source code directory structure per PRD specification

- Create `src/salesloft_mcp/` directory
- Create `src/salesloft_mcp/__init__.py` (empty or with version)
- Create placeholder files: `server.py`, `transcript_loader.py`, `search.py`
- Create `tests/` directory with placeholder test files
- Verify project can be installed with `uv pip install -e .`
- **Completion Summary**: Created src/salesloft_mcp/ with __init__.py (v0.1.0), server.py, transcript_loader.py, search.py. Created tests/ with test files. Package installs correctly.

## Phase 2: Core Server Implementation
### Task 2.1: Implement Transcript Loader Module
- [x] **Objective**: Build the transcript loading and parsing functionality
- **Agent**: backend-engineer
- **Dependency**: Sequential, after Task 1.2
- **Acceptance Criteria**:
- Parse markdown files with YAML frontmatter using `python-frontmatter`
- Load transcripts from `transcripts/` directory
- Handle both structured frontmatter (YAML) and unstructured metadata tables
- Extract required fields: `call_id`, `date`, `duration_seconds`, `rep_name`, `prospect_name`, `prospect_company`, `deal_stage`, `deal_value`, `disposition`, `tags`
- Generate `call_id` from filename if not present in frontmatter
- Graceful handling of malformed frontmatter (log warning, skip file)
- Return both metadata and full transcript content
- Include unit tests for loader functionality
- **Completion Summary**: Implemented Transcript dataclass with to_summary() and to_full() methods. Created _extract_metadata_from_markdown() for fallback parsing. Loading 47 transcripts successfully. 14 unit tests passing.
### Task 2.2: Implement `list_calls` Tool
- [x] **Objective**: Create the MCP tool for listing and filtering call transcripts
- **Agent**: backend-engineer
- **Dependency**: Sequential, after Task 2.1
- **Acceptance Criteria**:
- Accept optional parameters: `company` (string), `deal_stage` (string), `limit` (int, default 50, max 100)
- Filter by company name (case-insensitive partial match)
- Filter by deal_stage (exact match, case-insensitive)
- Return JSON array of call summaries with: `call_id`, `date`, `duration_seconds`, `rep_name`, `prospect_name`, `prospect_company`, `deal_stage`, `deal_value`, `disposition`, `tags`
- Return empty array (not error) when no matches found
- Respect limit parameter
- Unit tests covering LC-1 through LC-6 acceptance criteria
- **Completion Summary**: Implemented async list_calls() with @mcp.tool() decorator. Filters work for company and deal_stage. All LC acceptance criteria tests passing.
### Task 2.3: Implement `get_call` Tool
- [x] **Objective**: Create the MCP tool for retrieving full transcript content
- **Agent**: backend-engineer
- **Dependency**: Parallel with Task 2.2 (both depend on Task 2.1)
- **Acceptance Criteria**:
- Accept required parameter: `call_id` (string)
- Return full transcript content including all metadata and transcript text
- Preserve transcript formatting (speaker labels, timestamps)
- Return appropriate error message for invalid/missing call_id
- Unit tests covering GC-1 through GC-4 acceptance criteria
- **Completion Summary**: Implemented async get_call() returning full transcript JSON. Returns error object for invalid call_id. All GC acceptance criteria tests passing.
### Task 2.4: Implement `search_calls` Tool
- [x] **Objective**: Create the MCP tool for keyword search across transcripts
- **Agent**: backend-engineer
- **Dependency**: Parallel with Tasks 2.2 and 2.3 (depends on Task 2.1)
- **Acceptance Criteria**:
- Accept parameters: `query` (string, required), `limit` (int, default 10, max 50)
- Case-insensitive search across all transcript content
- Find both exact and partial word matches
- Return 50-100 words of context around each match
- Return JSON array with: `call_id`, `call_summary`, `excerpt`, `speaker` (if identifiable), `timestamp` (if available)
- Attribute excerpts to correct call_id
- Respect limit parameter
- Unit tests covering SC-1 through SC-6 acceptance criteria
- **Completion Summary**: Implemented search.py with search_transcripts() function. Extracts ~75 words of context around matches. Speaker and timestamp extraction from markdown patterns. All SC acceptance criteria tests passing.
### Task 2.5: Implement MCP Resources
- [x] **Objective**: Create the two MCP resources for direct data access
- **Agent**: backend-engineer
- **Dependency**: Sequential, after Task 2.1
- **Acceptance Criteria**:
- Implement `transcripts://list` resource returning JSON array of all call metadata
- Implement `transcripts://call/{call_id}` resource returning full transcript content
- Return appropriate error for invalid resource URI
- Unit tests covering R-1 through R-3 acceptance criteria
- **Completion Summary**: Implemented @mcp.resource() decorators for transcripts://list and transcripts://call/{call_id}. Returns JSON metadata list and full transcript content respectively.
### Task 2.6: Assemble MCP Server
- [x] **Objective**: Wire up all tools and resources into the main MCP server
- **Agent**: backend-engineer
- **Dependency**: Sequential, after Tasks 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5
- **Acceptance Criteria**:
- Create FastMCP server instance in `server.py`
- Register all three tools: `list_calls`, `get_call`, `search_calls`
- Register both resources: `transcripts://list`, `transcripts://call/{id}`
- Implement `main()` entry point function
- Server starts successfully via `uv run salesloft-mcp`
- Server starts in under 2 seconds
- Use STDIO transport
- **Completion Summary**: FastMCP server configured with all tools and resources. Uses STDIO transport. Server starts successfully. Entry point main() calls mcp.run().

## Phase 3: Sample Data Preparation
### Task 3.1: Normalize Existing Transcript Frontmatter

- Leave transcript body content unchanged
- Create diverse sample set covering different: companies, deal stages, themes
- **Completion Summary**: Created 3 demo transcripts with full YAML frontmatter: demo_telecom_nexus_20250115.md (telecom, $500K), demo_legal_tech_20250102.md (legal tech, $350K), demo_ecommerce_20250115.md (e-commerce, $250K). Each has complete metadata including tags and key_themes.

## Phase 4: Configuration & Testing
### Task 4.1: Create Claude Code Configuration

- **Existing Data**: The `transcripts/` folder already contains 40+ interview transcripts with varied formats
- **Frontmatter Handling**: Some transcripts have YAML frontmatter, others have markdown tables - the loader must handle both
- **MVP Scope**: This is an MVP - focus on core functionality per PRD Section 7 "Out of Scope"
