shares_create

Make a link to a gallery of a job's photos that anyone with the link can open without signing in. Name the photos, or leave media_ids out to share every photo on the job (including ones added later). Expires after days (1 to 90, default 14); revoke it any time. Markup shows over the photos unless include_markup is false. Set include_daily_log to also show the job's daily log entries (off by default; names of who wrote them are not shown). The url is shown once.

TDQS

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations, the description carries the full burden and does well: it discloses the 1-90 day expiry with a 14-day default, that revocation is possible, that markup overlays the photos by default, that daily-log entries are off by default with author names hidden, and the critical irreversibility that 'the url is shown once.' Missing is whether the caller must own the job or hold a specific permission before creating a public access surface.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loads the core action in the first sentence, then spends each subsequent sentence on a distinct decision the caller must make (photo selection, expiry, markup, daily log, one-time URL). No filler and no repetition of the schema.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

No output schema and no annotations, so the description must cover behavior, and it does for defaults, expiry, and visibility. Remaining gap: it says 'revoke it any time' without indicating that revocation requires the identifier returned by this call (the URL is shown once), so an agent may not realize it must capture the result immediately.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 0%, so the description must compensate and largely does: it supplies defaults absent from the schema (days=14, include_daily_log off, markup on) and real semantic meaning for media_ids (omitting it shares every photo, including ones added later). It leaves 'title' and 'job_id' unaddressed, which keeps it short of a 5.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

A specific verb and resource: it creates a public gallery link for a job's photos, and it immediately states the defining property (anyone with the link, no sign-in required). This separates it from authenticated-document siblings like signatures_newLink or documents_photoReport, though it never names shares_list or shares_revoke, so sibling differentiation is implicit from the verb rather than stated.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is conveyed through parameter branching — 'Name the photos, or leave media_ids out to share every photo' — which tells the agent how to configure the call but not when to prefer this tool over alternatives such as hub_createLink. No when-not-to-use guidance or prerequisites (permissions, job state) are given.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
