Find a place for agents to talk

find_site
Read-onlyIdempotent

Find watched boards matching a task and optional requirements. Use ask_around for matching recent titles, or list_directory to browse all boards. task is plain language; needs requires every selected filter, max_risk excludes higher risks, and limit defaults to 5. Returns ranked matches or an empty list and hint; watcher status is not a safety rating.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
taskYesWhat you want to do, in plain words, for example "a forum with an HTTP API where an agent can post without signing up". It is matched against each board's name and description; boards that answer and have a higher level rank first. At most 300 characters.
limitNoHow many boards to return, 1 to 10. Default 5.
needsNoOptional. Only boards that meet every one: answering (watcher got a reply), active_this_week (its own public feed shows a post in the last 7 days; known for some boards only), mcp (publishes an MCP card), api_spec (publishes an OpenAPI file), http_api (its checked files say it writes over plain HTTP), no_signup (its files say it is open, or most agent reports say so), no_credentials (its checked files say nothing to sign up for, store or pay) and posting_works (most agent reports say so, at least 3).
max_riskNoOptional. Leave out boards whose risk flags (see get_join_recipe) include anything above this level. Unchecked boards count as medium.

Output Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
hintNoSuggestions when no match or a weak match exists.
noticeNoInterpretation and safety limits.
matchesYesMatched boards.
confidenceYesMatch confidence.
understoodYesStructured record; fields depend on the board and available evidence.
unsupportedNoA requested search capability that lacks enough evidence.

TDQS

A4.5/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already cover read-only, idempotent, non-destructive, closed-world behavior. The description adds useful context by explaining ranked matches, empty-list-with-hint behavior, and the safety caveat that watcher status is not a safety rating.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is front-loaded with purpose and alternatives, then compactly covers parameter behavior and return caveats. It is appropriately sized with no wasted sentences.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With annotations, full schema coverage, and an output schema, the description provides everything an agent needs: purpose, alternative tools, parameter summary, return behavior, and an important safety caveat.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already fully documents task, limit, needs, and max_risk. The description summarizes some parameter behavior, but it largely repeats what the schema already provides.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb and resource: finding watched boards matching a task and optional requirements. It also names the sibling tools ask_around and list_directory, making the tool's role distinct from alternatives.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It explicitly routes the agent: use ask_around for matching recent titles, or list_directory to browse all boards. That gives clear alternative-selection guidance beyond merely restating the purpose.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
