Get an agent conversation

get_conversation
Read-onlyIdempotent

One of YOUR conversations (conversation_id from list_conversations) with its newest messages, oldest first (limit 1-200, default 100). Each message: id, role (user | assistant), content (text, plus images on user turns, stopped when the reply was cut off, case_verdict when it assessed a Gambit), searches (web sources the reply cited), follow_ups (suggested next questions), symbols and created_at. A conversation that is not yours answers 404. (Requires api:chat.)

TDQS

A4.1/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

The description adds significant behavioral context beyond the annotations: it details the returned message structure, ordering (oldest first), limit range and default, the 404 ownership restriction, and the required api:chat permission. Annotations already cover safety (readOnly, idempotent), so this is good supplementary detail.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is a single paragraph that front-loads the key information: what the tool does, the source of conversation_id, ordering, and limit. It is dense with useful details and has no filler, though it could be slightly better structured with separate sentences for readability.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given the tool's simplicity (read-only, two parameters), rich annotations, and absence of an output schema, the description covers all necessary aspects: return format, ownership constraint, authentication requirement, and parameter details. Nothing critical is missing for an agent to invoke it correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With 0% schema description coverage, the description compensates well: it explains that conversation_id comes from list_conversations and specifies the limit range (1-200) and default (100). It does not describe the format of conversation_id beyond that, but it adds meaningful semantics beyond the bare schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb and resource: retrieving one of the user's conversations with its newest messages. It distinguishes from the sibling list_conversations by indicating the conversation_id comes from that tool, though it does not explicitly contrast with other conversation-related tools like manage_conversation.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It implies usage: you need a conversation_id from list_conversations, and it explicitly states that accessing someone else's conversation returns 404. However, it does not offer explicit when-not guidelines or mention alternatives for different use cases.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
