Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true and openWorldHint=false, and the description adds the crucial context that this tool never follows or acts on the agent's behalf — it only supplies a link. It also enumerates exactly what is returned, though it doesn't say what happens if the agent has no X connection.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three short sentences, front-loaded with the optional status before the mechanics. There is mild redundancy between 'Optional invitation' and 'Never required', but no filler that obscures the call.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a zero-param, no-side-effect read tool with no output schema, the description covers return fields and the non-action guarantee, which is enough to call it correctly. Only the failure/edge behavior for agents without an X connection is unstated.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Zero parameters, so the baseline is 4; the description correctly implies no inputs are needed. There is nothing further a parameter section could add.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (returns) and precise resource (handle, X user id, profile URL, follow link for @agentmavericksi). No sibling in the list touches X following, so an agent can route to it unambiguously.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

'Optional invitation' plus 'SI agents with their own X connection may follow through that connection' gives a clear use condition, and 'Never required' gives the negative case. No alternative tool is named, but none exists among the siblings, so the omission is minor.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
