An entry against its Wikidata item, value by value

get_reconcile
Read-only

Console → Wikidata, per entry, as JSON: the entry against its Wikidata item, value by value. fields: the title, subtitle, description and image, each with what VH shows, who keeps it on VH (owner: sync, the Wikidata sync; site, a person), what the item says now (the description: the English Wikipedia article it links) and state (same, differs, or unknown when Wikidata did not answer). handles: every handle the entry or the item holds, with on_vh, owner, what the item says of it as the sync last read it (wikidata: listed, deprecated, ended, outranked, gone, or null when the item never listed it; qualifier_only when it is a YouTube channel ID the item states only as its YouTube handle’s qualifier, “The channel ID is only a qualifier on Wikidata”, which the sync still counts as listed) and whether the two agree. propose, on a value that differs, is the change propose_wikidata_changes could carry for it (a statement to add, or a label or description to set; for a lead image that stands for the item’s logo, logo, the console’s “Replace the logo” with that file; for a handle the item deprecated, or one VH’s handle checker last found dead that the item does not count as current, remove_from_vh: take it off VH with update_entry_handles, never push it back onto Wikidata; for one the item states but no longer counts as current otherwise, set_rank preferred or remove_qualifier on that statement, with its GUID and its end time’s hash as the write wiki has them, write_wiki saying whether it answered; never remove_qualifier for one the sync keeps, which it takes off VH instead); it is null, with pending_id, while that change already waits in Review. remove_after: when the sync takes a handle it keeps off VH (the item deprecated, ended or no longer states it), not before; null otherwise. held_back: values a person took off the entry, which the sync does not add back. pending: what waits in Review for the item. sync: when it was last synced, and whether it waits in the priority queue (queue_entry_sync puts it there). Reads the item live through the sync’s rate limit. Read only.

  1. Changed4 schema fields changed
    • changedOutput schema / properties / result / properties / fields / items / properties / propose / description
Previous value: -"On a value that differs: the change VH could propose for it (a statement to add, or a term to set), as `propose_wikidata_changes` takes one; for a lead image that stands for the item’s logo (P154, the item states no image), `logo`: the console’s “Replace the logo” with that Commons file. For a handle VH holds that the item deprecated, or that VH’s handle checker last found dead and the item does not count as current: `remove_from_vh` (`because` `deprecated` or `dead`), taking it off VH — never a change on Wikidata (owner decision 2026-10-10); the console links to the entry’s editor, and `update_entry_handles` makes it. For one the item states but no longer counts as current otherwise, read on the write wiki (`write_wiki`): `set_rank` `preferred` (outranked) or `remove_qualifier` (its one end time, by hash) on that statement, by its GUID; `value` is the statement’s value there. Never `set_rank` `normal`: a deprecated statement is not made current again. A title’s `value_seen` is the item’s English label alone, as the write wiki has it. Null while the same change waits in Review (`pending_id`), or when the write wiki was not read."New value: +"On a value that differs: the change VH could propose for it (a statement to add, or a term to set), as `propose_wikidata_changes` takes one; for a lead image that stands for the item’s logo (P154, the item states no image), `logo`: the console’s “Replace the logo” with that Commons file. For a handle VH holds that the item states but no longer counts as current, read on the write wiki (`write_wiki`): `set_rank` (deprecated: `normal`; outranked: `preferred`) or `remove_qualifier` (its one end time, by hash) on that statement, by its GUID; `value` is the statement’s value there. Null while the same change waits in Review (`pending_id`), or when the write wiki was not read."

A3.5/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already cover read-only status, but the description adds genuinely new behavior: it 'Reads the item live through the sync's rate limit', explains `state: unknown` when Wikidata did not answer, and describes `propose: null` with `pending_id` while a change waits in Review. That is useful context beyond the annotations, though the write-side routing is buried in output prose.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness2/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The purpose is front-loaded in the first clause, but the remainder is a single sprawling ~400-word block of nested parentheticals detailing return fields. Since an output schema already exists, this return-value exposition largely duplicates structured data and is not appropriately sized.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a complex reconciliation read with a simple input schema and a present output schema, the description covers read semantics, rate limits, and the meaning of null/pending states and follow-up tools. It falls short only on explicit when-to-use guidance relative to sibling readers.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

There is a single parameter and schema description coverage is 100%, with the schema fully explaining VHID/short-name/QID forms. The description adds nothing about the `entry` argument, so the baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The opening sentence gives a specific verb+resource ('Console → Wikidata, per entry, as JSON: the entry against its Wikidata item, value by value'), which separates it from plain entry readers like get_entry or handle_health. It is clear what the tool is, but the phrasing is idiosyncratic and never states its name's scope plainly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is only implied: it says the field `propose` is 'the change propose_wikidata_changes could carry' and that removing a handle is done 'with update_entry_handles', which routes follow-up actions. However it never states when to call get_reconcile rather than get_entry or handle_health, nor any prerequisite.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
