Delete components LIVE in the user's open R3 editor (plan, then confirm)

r3_editor_delete
Destructive

Delete components from the project the user has OPEN in their R3 editor, exactly as the editor's delete dialog asks it — in TWO calls. First call WITHOUT confirm: it returns the plan and changes nothing — the selected components, what only they use (their geometry, material, colliders …), an Entity's members, the modes on offer and a planToken. Then call again with the same componentIds and confirm: {"mode": …, "planToken": …}: "one" deletes only the selection, "with_dependents" also what only it uses, "bundle" (one Entity) the entity with its members. The mode is the user's choice, unless they already said. If the project changes in between, the confirm is refused: plan again. Only when the user asked for it. The confirmed delete is kept at once in the project's live copy (every open R3 tab shows it; no editor is needed); R3 keeps what was deleted in the project's trash. The children of a deleted Empty or Mesh keep their place in the world, as the editor's delete does (their numbers become the scene's; the answer lists them). A project itself is never deleted here. Needs the editor:dispose capability.

TDQS

A4.6/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations declare destructiveHint=true/idempotentHint=false, but the description adds substantial behavior the annotations cannot: the two-call plan/confirm protocol, that the first call changes nothing, that a stale project refuses the confirm, that the delete is instantly visible in every open tab, that items go to project trash, that Empty/Mesh children retain world position, and the required editor:dispose capability.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the essential two-call concept and dense with decision-relevant detail, but noticeably long with some redundancy (repeated emphasis on the plan/confirm flow and modes). Each sentence carries information, so it is efficient rather than padded, though it could be tightened.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a destructive, capability-gated, multi-phase tool it covers the full call contract, side effects, failure mode, and capability requirement; output schema exists so return values need not be restated, and it still notes 'the answer lists them' for child handling. Nothing an agent needs to call it correctly is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3, but the description earns extra by explaining what the enum modes actually do ('one' vs 'with_dependents' vs 'bundle'), which the schema only names, and by describing planToken provenance and the confirm-vs-omit contract. This adds operational meaning beyond the schema fields.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (delete) and resource (components from the project currently OPEN in the R3 editor), and explicitly excludes a nearby confusion: 'A project itself is never deleted here,' which separates it from r3_project_delete and r3_asset_delete. An agent can identify it without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives a clear when ('Only when the user asked for it'), a when-not ('A project itself is never deleted here'), and the mode-selection rule ('The mode is the user's choice, unless they already said'). It stops short of naming sibling tools to prefer for adjacent tasks (e.g. r3_editor_undo, r3_asset_delete), so it is strong but not fully explicit about alternatives.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
