list_feed

List the newest items in a cve.now feed. Pass name for one stored feed (critical, all, kev, tech/, ecosystem/; critical when nothing is passed), or any of filter, tech and ecosystem to narrow it. Each of those takes one value or a list: an item must match any listed value of a field, and every field passed. Up to 16 combinations of values.

TDQS

A3.7/5.0
Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations, the description carries the full burden. It usefully discloses the default feed ('critical when nothing is passed') and the combinatorial cap ('up to 16 combinations of values'), which are genuine behavioral traits. It says nothing about ordering guarantees beyond 'newest', pagination, behavior on invalid name/tech slugs, or the shape of returned items.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The purpose is front-loaded in the first sentence, and the remaining sentences add distinct routing and matching rules rather than padding. It is dense but every clause carries information; it could be tightened slightly but nothing is redundant.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness3/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 5-parameter list tool with no annotations and no output schema, the description covers feed selection and filtering well but leaves limit unexplained and gives no sense of item shape or ordering/pagination. An agent could call it correctly in the common case, but some parameters and the return surface remain guesswork.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 60%, and the description compensates well for the gaps: it enumerates the valid name values (critical, all, kev, tech/<slug>, ecosystem/<eco>), explains that tech/filter/ecosystem accept a single value or a list, and defines the match semantics. The only real omission is the limit parameter, which is undocumented in both schema and description beyond default/min/max.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description opens with a specific verb and resource: 'List the newest items in a cve.now feed.' That is far more than a restatement of the name and tells an agent exactly what comes back. It does not explicitly differentiate itself from siblings like search or check_stack, so it falls short of a 5.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It gives concrete operating rules: pass name for a stored feed, fall back to critical when nothing is passed, and narrow with filter/tech/ecosystem. The OR-within-field, AND-across-fields semantics and the 16-combination cap are spelled out, leaving little to inference. There is no explicit statement of when to prefer a sibling tool instead, which keeps it at 4.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
