Huurtoeslag berekenen (NL 2026)

nmi_huurtoeslag
Read-onlyIdempotent

TDQS

A4.5/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint, idempotentHint and closed-world, covering the safety profile for a pure calculator. The description adds useful domain behavior beyond that: monthly computation, application of the rent limit (huurgrens) and capping (aftopping), and the required inputs. It does not disclose edge cases or output shape, but an output schema exists so that is acceptable.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three dense but purposeful sentences: purpose and computation basis first, then usage routing, then required inputs. No filler, though the sentence structure is compressed enough that the parameter enumeration reads as a list.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With an output schema present and annotations covering safety, the description supplies the key routing and input information. The only gap is the two parameters (partner income and asset threshold) left unexplained, which is a minor omission for an 8-parameter tool.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is only 50%, so the description must compensate, and it does by enumerating the main drivers: gross annual income, bare rent, service costs, household type, resident children and age category. It omits partner_jaarinkomen and vermogen_onder_grens, which remain undocumented in both places.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (berekent) and resource (huurtoeslag per maand) plus the calculation basis, and explicitly distinguishes itself from siblings nmi_woonbudget and nmi_zorgtoeslag. An agent can route to it without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly states when to use it (loose huurtoeslag question with known annual income) and when not to use it, naming the two alternative tools (nmi_woonbudget for net income/housing budget, nmi_zorgtoeslag for care costs). Also states the two required inputs.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
