jcrew_search

Read-only

Search J.Crew or J.Crew Factory's product catalog (select with site, default jcrew): normalized product summaries (USD pricing, gender, description) plus the search index's own facets (gender, fabric, category, size, color, price range) with live per-option counts. sort selects relevance/price_asc/price_desc; filter narrows by facet name:value pairs (comma-separated, e.g. productGender:Men) from a prior response's own facets. Best-effort relevance search -- an obscure keyword may return the search index's own semantically-related fallback results instead of an empty result.

TDQS

A4.1/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnly/openWorld, and the description adds real behavioral context beyond them: best-effort relevance that may substitute semantically-related fallback results instead of an empty set, plus normalized USD pricing and live per-option facet counts. This is useful disclosure, though pagination limits are not mentioned.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Purpose is front-loaded in the first clause, followed by return content, then parameter behavior, then the fallback caveat. It is dense and a bit long, but each sentence carries information; little padding.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With an output schema present, the description need not enumerate return fields, and it adequately covers search behavior, facet chaining, and the fallback caveat. Only minor gaps remain, such as pagination expectations and the site/currency relationship.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3, but the description adds two things not in the schema: site defaults to jcrew, and filter values must come from a prior response's own facets (a real constraint on how to supply the param). The sort and filter format details largely restate the schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (Search) and resource (J.Crew / J.Crew Factory product catalog), and immediately distinguishes itself from browsing siblings by noting site selection. An agent can tell it apart from jcrew_category and jcrew_suggest without opening a schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is implied (keyword search with optional facet filtering sourced from a prior response), and the chaining hint for filter is helpful. However, it never states when to prefer this over jcrew_suggest (autocomplete) or jcrew_category (browse), so no explicit alternatives or exclusions are given.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
