goldin_search

Read-only

Search or browse Goldin's current lot inventory by free-text keyword, category, sub_category, certification, item_type, and auction_id, in a caller-selected sort order. Every filter is optional and combines with AND semantics. All enum values come from goldin_categories -- pass the matching auction_type to both. auction_type selects Auction (default) or Fixed_Price (Goldin's separate Buy Now marketplace, with no lot numbering or bidding).

TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint and openWorldHint, so the safety profile is covered. The description adds genuine behavioral context beyond the schema: the default sort order per pool and the fact that Fixed_Price is a separate Buy Now marketplace with no lot numbering or bidding.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three tightly-written sentences that front-load the core action and scope before moving to the AND semantics and auction_type distinction. No filler, though the auction_type detail could have been folded more compactly.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With 10 documented parameters and an output schema present, return values need not be explained. The description competently covers tool choice, filter combination, and the auction pool distinction, leaving only the optional-vs-required discrepancy unresolved.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3, but the description adds cross-tool semantics the schema lacks (enum values come from goldin_categories; pass the matching auction_type to both) and explains what auction_type selects. Note the description claims all filters are optional while the schema lists all 10 as required, a discrepancy worth resolving.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Search or browse Goldin's current lot inventory') and enumerates the filter dimensions. It explicitly names the sibling goldin_categories as the source of enum values, so an agent can distinguish this search tool from goldin_categories, goldin_auctions, and goldin_listing.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides clear usage context: every filter is optional, filters combine with AND, and enum values must be sourced from goldin_categories with a matching auction_type. It does not, however, state when to prefer this over siblings like goldin_suggest or goldin_listing, so no explicit alternatives are offered.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
