datasets_creators_search

Read-only

Search indexed TikTok creator records by profile filters and follower or engagement ranking. Private and deleted accounts are excluded unless include_inactive=true. Post-level engagement fields cover a growing subset; engagement_desc sorts missing metrics last, while engagement_qualified_desc excludes creators below its recency, reach, sample-size, and sanity thresholds. Prefer engagement_qualified_desc for best-engagement leaderboards. top_sounds is a top-five sample view; use each sound's original flag rather than title text. Costs 1 credit per record returned (minimum 2), so keep page_size to what you need. Use datasets_youtube_creators_search for YouTube creators.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
qNoOptional full-text query over creator handle, nickname and bio, max 256 characters.
pageNoResult page number, 1-based, default 1; page times page_size must not exceed 10000.
sortNoOptional sort order. Allowed values: followers_desc, engagement_desc, engagement_qualified_desc, likes_desc, relevance. Defaults to relevance with q, otherwise followers_desc. engagement_desc ranks by post-level engagement rate, currently populated for a growing subset of creators (highest-reach first); creators without it sort last. engagement_qualified_desc is the same metric restricted to creators with a recent post (<=90d), a minimum reach (avg_views>=10000) and sample size (>=10 posts), and a sanity ceiling (<=50%) — use this, not the raw engagement_desc, for a 'best engagement' leaderboard; the raw sort surfaces stale/low-sample accounts with unrealistic ratios.
nicheNoOptional exact content-niche filter, max 128 characters, e.g. skincare.
handleNoOptional exact handle lookup (case-insensitive), e.g. khaby.lame. Returns the single creator with that exact TikTok @handle — more reliable than q for a known account.
countryNoOptional exact creator country/region filter, max 128 characters, e.g. us.
verifiedNoOptional verified-badge filter; true keeps only verified creators.
has_emailNoOptional contact-email presence filter; true keeps only creators with an email.
page_sizeNoPage size, default 20, max 100; page times page_size must not exceed 10000.
include_emailNoOptional. Return the stored contact email instead of a blanked value. Honoured only for entitled (non-Free) API keys; ignored otherwise, and off by default for everyone.
min_followersNoOptional minimum follower count, must be 0 or greater.
include_inactiveNoOptional. When false (default) deleted and private accounts are excluded; set true to include inactive accounts for historical lookups.

A4.8/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations declare readOnly/openWorld, and the description adds genuinely non-obvious behavior: private/deleted accounts are excluded by default, post-level engagement covers only a growing subset, qualified sorts apply recency/reach/sample-size/sanity thresholds, include_email only works for entitled keys, and cost is 1 credit per record with a minimum of 2. This is far more than the annotations convey.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Dense but front-loaded: it leads with what the tool returns, then constraints, then the alternative. Every sentence largely earns its place except the top_sounds clause, which is output-schema territory and not a parameter an agent can set here.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With 12 parameters, 100% schema coverage, and an output schema, the description covers everything an agent needs: filtering behavior, default exclusions, sort tradeoffs, cost, and the sibling alternative. Return-value detail is correctly left to the output schema.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so baseline is 3, but the description adds real meaning beyond the schema for sort (contrasting engagement_desc vs engagement_qualified_desc tradeoffs) and ties page_size to credit cost. Minor deduction because the top_sounds sentence references behavior not tied to any listed parameter, adding slight ambiguity.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (Search) and resource (indexed TikTok creator records) plus scope (profile filters, follower/engagement ranking). Explicitly names the sibling to use for YouTube creators, so an agent can distinguish it without opening either schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives explicit when-to-use guidance: prefer engagement_qualified_desc for best-engagement leaderboards, use handle over q for known accounts, set include_inactive=true only for historical lookups, and route YouTube queries to datasets_youtube_creators_search. Includes both selection criteria and the reasoning behind them.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
