audible_editorial_list

Read-only

Returns one of Audible's hand-curated "Popular Lists" pages, normalized into its themed shelves (heading + ordered ASINs). This is an HTML scrape of a marketing/editorial page (audible.com), not api.audible.com's JSON API — pair an ASIN from any shelf with GET /audible/products (batch) or GET /audible/product/{asin} for full title/author/price/rating detail. "Best of the Year" is not covered — its layout has no consistent structure to parse. list: Editorial list slug. Use audible_categories to get Audible's genre/category tree.

TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint and openWorldHint, but the description adds valuable behavioral context: this is an HTML scrape of a marketing page rather than a stable JSON API, and it discloses a coverage gap for 'Best of the Year'. It does not discuss rate limits or error behavior, so not a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loads what the tool returns, then bundles the API distinction, follow-up pairing, exclusion, and parameter note. Every sentence carries information, though the trailing audible_categories sentence is slightly misplaced next to the slug parameter.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

An output schema exists so return values need not be described, and the description still summarizes the shelf structure. Combined with the scrape disclosure, exclusion note, and pairing advice, an agent has everything needed to call and chain the tool correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With one parameter and 100% schema coverage, the schema already documents 'list'. The description restates it as 'Editorial list slug' without adding format or source guidance (how to discover valid slugs is only loosely implied by the audible_categories reference, which is really a genre tree). Baseline 3.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Returns ... hand-curated Popular Lists pages, normalized into themed shelves') and differentiates itself from both the JSON API and siblings like audible_categories. An agent can identify exactly what this tool produces.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly names the follow-up tools for detail (GET /audible/products batch, GET /audible/product/{asin}), points to audible_categories for the category tree, and states a key exclusion ('Best of the Year' not covered). Routing guidance is unusually thorough.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
