jumia_product

Read-only

Return one Jumia product from its page URL: name, brand, sku, images, price in local currency with original price and discount, availability, rating and count, category path, seller (name, score, followers, shipping speed), description, key features and the specification table. Pass the url from a jumia_search or jumia_category result; the storefront is taken from the host. A product id Jumia no longer serves returns 404. Jumia challenges many connections, so a call can take up to about 50 seconds and may fail with a retryable 503.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
urlYesRequired. Absolute Jumia product URL as returned in the url field of jumia_search or jumia_category, e.g. https://www.jumia.com.ng/some-product-418619812.html. The storefront country is taken from the host.

Output Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
dataYesThe tool result payload (shape varies per tool; see each tool's docs resource).

A4.6/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations only declare readOnlyHint and openWorldHint; the description goes well beyond them. It discloses three operational behaviors an agent must plan around: stale product ids return 404, calls can take ~50 seconds because Jumia challenges connections, and failures surface as a retryable 503. That is precisely the retry/latency context an agent needs before committing to a call.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the return payload, then input sourcing, then failure modes — a sensible ordering with no filler sentences. The one weakness is length: the long field enumeration partially duplicates the existing output schema, costing a bit of economy without breaking readability.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

An output schema exists, so return values need no explanation, yet the description still covers the two things the schema cannot: where the url comes from and how the call can fail or stall. For a single-parameter open-world scraper, nothing needed to invoke it correctly is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100% and the parameter already documents the absolute URL format, the example, and that the storefront is derived from the host. The description's "storefront is taken from the host" repeats the schema rather than adding syntax, format, or validation detail. Baseline 3 is right when the schema carries the full load.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Opens with a specific verb+resource ("Return one Jumia product from its page URL") and enumerates exactly what the payload contains: name, brand, sku, images, price/discount, availability, rating, category path, seller detail, description, features, spec table. It is unmistakably the single-item counterpart to jumia_search and jumia_category, so an agent can route without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly states the input source: "Pass the url from a jumia_search or jumia_category result," which names the sibling tools that feed it. It also states the host determines the storefront, so the agent knows URL choice controls market. This is clear when-to-use plus concrete alternative routing.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
