Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint and openWorldHint, so the safety profile is covered. The description usefully adds that the result is a fixed set of five curated items drawn from the News page and that entries carry source and article links, but it says nothing about freshness, caching, or how 'trending' is determined.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

A single front-loaded sentence that states quantity, source, and return content with no filler. Every clause carries information.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With zero parameters, an output schema to carry return structure, and annotations covering safety, the description is nearly complete. The only gap is any hint about update cadence or when the 'trending' set changes, which would help an agent judge staleness.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The tool takes no parameters (empty schema, additionalProperties false), so the baseline of 4 applies; there is no parameter behavior for the description to clarify or omit.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description gives a specific verb (List) and resource (five curated trending football news previews), plus the source page, which is far more informative than a bare 'trending news'. It does not, however, name or contrast itself against close siblings like fotmob_latest_news, fotmob_news, or fotmob_news_article, so an agent must infer the distinction.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

There is no explicit when-to-use guidance and no mention of alternatives. The agent can infer that this is a trending-news snapshot, but nothing states when to prefer it over fotmob_news or fotmob_latest_news, nor any exclusions.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
