Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true and openWorldHint=true, so safety and external-source nature are covered. The description adds that content comes from the public RSS feed, which usefully signals no auth and a public upstream, but it discloses nothing about freshness cadence, volume, or pagination.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

A single front-loaded sentence with no filler; the verb and resource lead, and the usage hint trails. It could be tightened slightly, but every clause carries information.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With an output schema present, return values need no explanation, and a zero-parameter tool has no input gaps. The description covers what the agent needs to invoke it, though it leaves the sibling boundary with benzinga_headlines unaddressed.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The tool takes zero parameters, so the baseline of 4 applies. There is nothing for the description to clarify beyond the implicit date/recency scope, which it gestures at with "current."

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (Fetch) and resource (Benzinga top stories and publisher teasers from the public RSS feed), and names the content types returned. It is clear what the tool does, but it never distinguishes itself from the close sibling benzinga_headlines, so an agent cannot tell the two apart from text alone.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

"use it for fresh market-news URLs" gives an implied usage context, but no alternatives (benzinga_headlines, benzinga_search, benzinga_article) are named and no when-not conditions are given. The agent must infer when this is preferable to its siblings.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
