Bulk Create Category Rules

create_category_rules_bulk

Create multiple category auto-categorization rules in one call. Each rule is created independently (per-rule isolation): a single invalid/duplicate rule does NOT abort the batch. Returns { created, ids[], failed[{index, error}] }. Requires confirmation: true to execute.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
rulesYes
confirmationYesMust be true to execute the mutation
idempotencyKeyNoOptional idempotency key — calls with the same key (per-user, within 24h) return the cached response without re-executing.

TDQS

A4.7/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

The description is highly valuable by disclosing critical operational details: 'per-rule isolation' (meaning batch failure doesn't abort the whole call) and the exact structure of the return value (created, ids, failed). This goes well beyond what the annotations provide.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is front-loaded and highly efficient, immediately conveying the primary function and the critical error-handling behavior in a very short space.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Despite not having an output schema, the description provides all necessary operational context—how failures are reported, how transactions are processed (in bulk), and the security requirement (confirmation)—making it complete.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With 33% schema coverage remaining, the description adds value by clarifying that the 'confirmation' parameter is mandatory for execution and by framing the 'idempotencyKey' functionality within the context of bulk processing isolation.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The title and description clearly state the function (create multiple category rules) and distinguish it from singular creation methods available in siblings by specifying the 'bulk' nature of the operation.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The name 'bulk' and the description explicitly state the purpose is to handle multiple rules, effectively guiding the user toward this tool over singular alternatives like 'create_category_rule'.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
