Connect to a person's account

connect_account

Ask the person you're helping to let you act for their MakerRadar account. Returns a short code and a link: show them both, they sign in and approve you on MakerRadar. Then call connect_account_finish with deviceCode until it returns your token. No sign-in needed to start.

A4.2/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations only declare non-read-only, non-destructive, non-idempotent, closed-world; the description adds real behavior beyond them: an out-of-band human approval step is required, the immediate return is a code plus link rather than a credential, and the token only arrives via repeated connect_account_finish calls. It doesn't mention code expiry or what happens on rejection, which keeps it below 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Short, front-loaded, and every sentence carries operational weight: what to ask, what comes back, what to display, and the exact next call. No filler or restatement of the title.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a multi-step authorization handshake this covers the essentials (start, display, approve, finish-with-deviceCode), and an output schema exists so return shapes need no prose. Gaps are minor edges such as code lifetime or behavior if the person declines.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With a single optional parameter and 100% schema description coverage, the schema already explains that "client" is the name shown to the person. The description adds nothing about it, so the baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

"Ask the person you're helping to let you act for their MakerRadar account" states a specific action and resource, and the flow (returns a short code and a link, then connect_account_finish) makes it clearly distinct from the many read-only listing/product siblings and from connect_account_finish itself.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicit sequencing is given: start here, show the code and link, have the person approve, then call connect_account_finish with deviceCode until a token is returned. It also removes a common blocker with "No sign-in needed to start." It stops short of stating failure conditions or when not to use it, so a 4 rather than a 5.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
