tascan_resolve_insight

Apply or dismiss an AI Insight (POST /insights/:id/apply or /dismiss), with the Simple page's status writes (applied / dismissed, an optional dismiss reason). Apply marks it applied and returns the suggestion (title, body, action) for you to carry out; it runs no AI and changes nothing else. Only a pending (or explained) insight. Write tier.

TDQS

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare the write/safety profile (readOnly=false, destructive=false, idempotent=false), and the description adds value beyond that: apply runs no AI and changes nothing else, only the two status writes occur, and 'Write tier' telegraphs a permission/rate tier. It stops short of saying what dismissal returns or whether re-applying errors.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two front-loaded sentences that lead with the action and endpoints before caveats. Slightly dense with parenthetical endpoint paths and 'Write tier', but nearly every clause carries usable signal.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description usefully discloses what apply returns (title, body, action), states the state precondition, and confirms no side effects beyond the status write. The dismiss return value and the effect of a missing/nonexistent insight_id remain unstated.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 0%, so the description must carry all meaning for the 3 parameters. It conveys that action is apply vs dismiss and that reason is an optional dismiss-only field, but says nothing about the insight_id format or where it comes from, leaving a real gap.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Names a specific verb pair and resource ('Apply or dismiss an AI Insight') plus the exact endpoints, and separates apply ('returns the suggestion for you to carry out') from dismiss ('optional dismiss reason'). An agent can distinguish it from tascan_list_insights without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides a real precondition ('Only a pending (or explained) insight'), which narrows when the call is valid. But it never names alternatives (e.g., list_insights to find a pending insight) or states what to do when the insight is already resolved, so the routing guidance is implied rather than explicit.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
