UseTested — Receipts-Verified Service Reviews

Get a re-test quote for a reviewed service (free quote, paid re-test)

request_retest
Read-onlyIdempotent

Get an upfront quote for UseTested to re-test a service we have already reviewed — e.g. its quality changed, the review is stale, or measured numbers no longer match reality. Free. Returns the exact total: $1.00 rubric fee + the service's current advertised per-call price x 20 probe calls. To proceed, pay the quote via accept_retest_quote. The service must exist in our directory (find the exact name via search_services, free).

A4.7/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true, idempotentHint=true and destructiveHint=false, and the description reinforces this by stating the call is free and returns only a quote. It adds valuable context beyond the annotations: the exact pricing formula ($1.00 rubric fee + per-call price x 20) and the directory-existence prerequisite. It does not say whether the quote expires or is locked to the current price, which is the only material gap.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the purpose and cost model, then the next step and prerequisite. Every sentence carries operational information — the free/paid distinction and the pricing formula in particular prevent costly misuse.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Output schema exists, so return values need no prose, yet the description still tells the agent the response is an exact total broken into components. Prerequisites, cost, and the follow-up tool are all covered for a two-parameter tool in a priced workflow.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3, but the description adds a real constraint beyond the schema: the service must exist in the directory and the name must be exact, as surfaced by search_services. The reason parameter is left entirely to the schema, which documents it adequately.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (get an upfront quote) and resource (re-test of an already-reviewed service), and names the sibling it must not be confused with (accept_retest_quote vs. this free quote step). The e.g. clause makes clear it applies only to services already reviewed, distinguishing it from request_review.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicit triggers are given (quality changed, review stale, measured numbers no longer match), plus the prerequisite path: find the exact name via search_services, then pay via accept_retest_quote. The agent knows both the entry condition and the next step without inference.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
