Get Segment Audiences

get_segment_audiences
Read-onlyIdempotent

List every audience that references a segment, with campaign linkage. Returns audiences[] ({id, name, campaign_id, status, record_count}), audience_count, and campaign_count. Use before archiving, refreshing, or editing a segment to understand downstream impact, or when the user asks where a segment is used across campaigns. Requires 'discovery' scope.

TDQS

A4.2/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint, idempotentHint, and destructiveHint=false, so safety is covered. The description adds genuinely new context beyond annotations: the required 'discovery' scope (an auth prerequisite the agent cannot infer elsewhere) and the downstream-impact purpose. It stops short of noting volume/limits on large segment fan-out.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with purpose, then return shape, then usage triggers and the scope requirement — no wasted sentences. The enumeration of return fields is mildly redundant given an output schema exists, but it is compact and easy to scan.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With a rich annotation set and an output schema, the description only needs to add purpose, usage triggers, and prerequisites — all of which it supplies, including the 'discovery' scope. Nothing an agent needs to select or call this tool correctly is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Single parameter with 100% schema description coverage, so the schema already explains segment_id. The description adds no format, lookup, or edge-case guidance (e.g., what happens for an unknown segment ID) beyond the schema baseline.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('List every audience that references a segment') with explicit scope ('every') plus campaign linkage, which distinguishes it from siblings like get_segment or list_audiences. An agent knows exactly what it returns without opening a schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives concrete triggering scenarios: before archiving, refreshing, or editing a segment, or when the user asks where a segment is used across campaigns. That implicitly points at siblings such as archive_segment and refresh_segment, though it never explicitly names alternatives or states when not to use it.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
